My Black GTi

Car just failed an MOT...nightmare!! What next, the birds car just got written off tae so no been a good month!! She only had the car a month!!!

Needing a new seat belt that Stufagti mite be able to sort me out wi according to Rick as stitching has come away from bottom strap, need mid section of exhaust welded as theres a crack...my wee bro works at a nuclear power station and his mates a brilliant welder so thats sound!! New rear driver side brake pipe and need the driver side headlight adjusted as I hit a massive pheasant a while back and knocked it out o place

Getting power steering fluid changed and rubber put on axle to stop exhaust rattling!!

Hopefully get all done soon so I dont need to keep using public service!!

God your not having much luck. At least your going to have a cracking gti at the end of it all.

Oh and book the 18th july off work;)

I kno been a shit start to the year but everyone goes through bad patches!!! Everyone tells me anyway!! Will do...cheers!!

No probs 18th July is booked off!!!!

get some sand paper on that rear brake pipe line and clean it up or is really that bad?

just that aparently to change the brake line the fuel tank has to be dropped on the meras so a bit of a bitch of a job.

Mine failed the mot on the brake pipe lines being corroded when it turned out to be a little bit of surface rust, so sanded them down and it was fine. :)

check with chris innes, im sure he recently had his rear brake pipes done.

thing is once you see the rust on the outside they are done, they rust from inside - out.

as for dropping the fuel tank, you dont need to drop it :)

Ross is right. Mine failed last year on them, think paid just over £100 at GP Autos in Dalkeith to get them done.

ill also agree with ross and chris mine needed the rear ones doing last year.. cost £40 they just replace it with some new pipe and bend it to shape not hard..

Cheers for comments guys, car is with a good mechanic so should get done ok and getting done on the side so its a bit cheaper!!

Just the seat belt and exhaust welding thats going to take time

You know the part of the strap that goes across your lap?! the bottom of that strap is connected to a small black pole at the bottom left of the passenger seat (both sides of car) but the straps stitching has come away and the part which goes over your lap is now unattached so not safe!! I'll get a pic up and show you!!

Got mid section of exhaust off last nite and its needing welded at the silencer, it looks as though when my bro had it he had bought one of those shitty de-cats and it was too long!! Before I took it off the exhaust was sitting far too far forward and touching the petrol tank! With the de-cat being too long it has pushed the exhaust forward and the pressure has made the metal go inwards on the silencer so there a small gap all the way around which is blowing!!

Get pics up of this too cos hard to explain lol!!!

Also as per brake pipes, definatley fecked!! Others have been done previously (not when I've had car) so def getting done!!

as for dropping the fuel tank, you dont need to drop it :)

are you positive, as nissan wanted to charge me £270 for doing the fuel lines, they said that the fuel tank has to be dropped on the n15s, if it doesnt i would like to know what they are bloody playing at telling me shit, arrrgrgrgrgrgr:mad:

Hey Kez spoke to my mate who's doing the work on my car! He changed the brake pipe last nite and said it was a bitch of a job, to be able to do a perfect hassel free job the tank has to be dropped! But there is a way round it...he has re routed the brake pipe behind the tank so its all good but just took a bit time!!

As per exhaust getting welded thats getting done today!! The guy who's welding it welds reactors in a Nuclear power station where my bro works so he's the top dog there...know itll be a class job!! My bro bought the exhaust when he had the car before me about 3 years ago and bought the scorpion exhuast...mcturk who's welding the exhasut says its been welded before so must have been repaired then my bro's paid full price for it...COWBOYS!!!
Been nothing but hassell wi this exhaust..hopefully this is the end of it after the mid section is done then get the rubber put on the axle so I dont hear the rattling and knocking!!!

That's news to me, had to get mine all changed and was done in couple hours and nothing was mentioned about dropping any fuel tank.

Did all the rear brake pipes myself a while ago, it took me about an hour. You can pretty much feel the brake pipe all the way along for the o/s/r. For better looking results i did it in two parts and joined halfway down the sill. If you're not used to doing them though, i guess they can take a while.

Now had to get Goodridgde to send me another break hose!! As per previous problems with rear hose they sent me a new one a while back but found its a front hose they sent me so they're sending me a new rear one!! Dont have to return other hose so at least I'll have a spare...more waiting!!
