My Black GTi

Got the car yesterday, driving like a dream!! Feels better than before it went in for the MOT but alot been done, no more exhaust rattling now got a long strip of rubber/foam and put it on axel!! Was fucking annoying but all good now!!
Just paid tax aswell so paid shit loads out on my car the last few days!!
Cheers again for the seat belt stuart and to rick for letting me know stu had one!!

Just waiting on mani and downpipe and I'll get that fitted on mon hopefully!!

No worries fella, glad you got it all sorted and your enjoying it again :thumb:

Got my black heat wrap from Agriemach, they were great to deal with no probs at all!! Wrapped the manifold a while back and the 25ft I bought was just enough, got tying wire and clips to keep it all neat. Hopefully get this fitted soon with my engine mounts, my mate has been really busy wi homers so this has had to get cancelled a few times!! Ordered new bolts for the mani to block and block to exhaust from Nissan, 8 bolts for roughly £35 & 3 bolts for 2-1 were £18 so no cheap but they need changed!!

A few problems with the car...never changes!! Since fitting a Jperformance manifold and downpipe it turns out the downpipe is sitting directly on the front anti-roll bar (rattling when driving off) so this will be taken off and the standard mani/downpipe fitted!

At the same time that this is getting done I have got a new stainless steel pipe which will replace the damaged silencer on my scorpion exhaust mid section as its blowing like hell and cant source a replacement mid section!!

Just recently the water from the overflow radiator tank is leaking out somewhere, after filling it up there is no leakage but after driving the car it is gone by the following day so it might be further on in the engine when its heated up when it is leaking out?!

I checked the radiator cap and there is water so not completely empty, seen there is some yellowish gunk on the radiator cap when its removed...in the pipe where you pour the coolant in and on the bottom of the rad cap??? Hope this aint what I think it is?!!

The car has done 96000miles now and been a joy since getting it 2 years ago but a few things been going wrong recently....hope it aint on the way out!!

I don't get how there can be that much variation in the manifolds, yet we keep hearing about ones that don't fit properly?

ive NEVER heard of issue with downpipe not clearing the arb? yes on my header but not the 2.5' eBay ones? the dp should have good clearance below the arb if the bar is where it should be.

coolant issue sound rough tho pal

I know lots of people on here have this manifold...maybe the downpipe I was sold aint a JPerformance one?? Hope that ain the case cause bought it from an AOC member!!

I know hope it is an easy fix...my mate who does all my work will hopefully have it sorted byt the time I'm back from my hols 2 weeks on tue!!

Cheers guys!

Had the car looked at when I was on holiday and found the water leak was a burst pipe at the back of the block so that was an easy fix. Had the Jperformance manifold taken off and standard mani put back on...much better no more rattling!!

Car got a service, changed the coolant etc and as I had put on the wanted forum needed a new clutch so bought an exedy one from eurocar parts. Drove the car last night thinking the clutch would last until mon when I take it to get it fitted but cable went so had to leave it at my bro's and the front discs and pads are fecked too so alot of work getting done on mon.

Cant wait to get it all sorted been one thing after another recently but all been wear and tear!!

I know thats the 2nd one I've had now and they both aint fitted right so no more fucking about with them....just keeping it standard!! After the clutch and breaks have been done I'm going to save up and get a custom mid section made up as the one I've got on....the silencer is blowing like hell but apart from that should be all good....fingers crossed!!

Got the car back yest and was running great all day, new clutch, cable and all new front brakes have made a hell of a difference as the clutch has been dodgy for ages. The release bearing had collapsed and the plastic casing on it has come apart!!

Checked the car last night after it didnt start yesterday morning, thought it was the earthing kit but turns out its the alternator so thats another thing I have to change now!!

Hopefully get some good pics up this weekend feels ages since I took any pics!

Took 2 hours last night to figure out what was wrong, was determined not to spend money on the alternator! Turned out my earthing kit has at some point been mixed about and had no earth connection from the body work of the car to the battery thus creating a high resistence and low voltage!! Changed a few of the wires about and all good!!

Cheers guys...car been annoying me for a while but no problems now!! TOUCH WOOD!!! Matt I'm glad I left Peebles when I did cos the heavens opened!! Would have got soaked, howd the gala meet go???

hi. what radiator hoses fit gtis, ive looked for specific ones and wondered if a different car had the same shape

Awrite guys hows things, no posted on my build up for ages!! Car has been all good since new brakes, new exedy clutch, service etc but engine mounts are doing my head in now....vibrations piss me off!! Cant be helped though! Anyone ever needs these and willing to swap the inserts to save getting the bushes out let me know and I'll swap back to standard....only if standard ones are in good nick though!

Got a replacement scorpion exhaust cause the silencer is fucked so looking forward to getting this on this weekend! Going to strip the whole car bare inside & out, cleaing anything that needs done!!

Also maybe going on a rolling road day with my bro through to glasgow so what power do you think I should be hoping for on my car??

Standard mani, de-cat & scorpion cat-back system, pipercross induction kit, cold air feed, earthing kit...hoping for at least the standard BHP but with it now nearing 100000 miles I doubt it!! Really just wanting to check the compression & cylinders are ok & not running too rich!!

Not had pics up for ages so I'll get lots done this weekend!!

If the vibrations annoy you swap back the gearbox and drivers side mounts to standard as these are the ones that transmit the most vibrations...

Cheers mate think I will, but I'll have to buy new bushes as original ones were pretty worn so just threw them out!! Cant see them being dear from nissan??!! Hope not anyway!!
