My GA18DE+T

by the end of next year is my timescale.

its all down to money and availability. at the moment it is 400 quid just to get the parts to finish the engine N/A, then i have all the remaining turbo bits to buy

i recommend engine resource in dundee, been to agra quite a few times and theres something i dont quite like about them, especially how long i needed to wait to get things back lol

yeah well im not impressed at all with agra. even with a carrot of £1500 + in sales from the cam group buy they couldnt respond to an email.

email sent to engine resource :D

funnily enough they are on the same street my mate lives on. dundee is small

well its about time i did this.

Following a discussion with Bob Legere (rally GA legend) and a few other members on the GAforum this project has officially ended.

it seems that at first impression there is indeed 9mm of material between the cylinders which would allow for the required 4mm extra bore needed to run QG18 pistons.

i have always maintained that there is very little difference between the GA and the QG blocks. I WAS WRONG.

turns out that even though there is 9mm material between cylinders at the top of the bore, as you go further down the water jacket there is significantly less material. enough to make a 4mm bore out dangerous.

i dunno what RN_Sport has done. whether its sheer luck it hasnt gone pop yet or if he has even dont it at all but this cant be done.

sorry guys. nobody is more let down by this ending than me.

Sorry it didnt work out Ross :( hopefully your next endeavour will be more fruitful :)

yayyyy! Are you confident of similar results using just the SAFC though?

dale reckons my setup will be good for 140WHP, and US GA boys have used safc fairly regularly to good results so i am indeed confident, i'll also as far as i know be the first person to fit a SAFC to a UK GA almera

im not going for all out performance. its gonna be something of a sleeper with no obvious signs of boosting

Sounds good Ross, keep at it mate will be awesome and quite refreshing to see a few fast almeras that arent SR powered (nothing against SRs you understand people, just, you know :D) :)
