My GTI

Dudes, you've both seen the thumb print on the forehead, lol. Got a couple of things that need paid for first then I'll get right on it. Need new seats too, these are fucked, grrrr

well today was fun and i dont mean in a good way i took the gti round ot my mate garage to start getting ready for MOT time put it on on the rampt o look underneath and me and my mate almost died. and before anyone thinks im blameing ryhd for this i aint im sure he didnt even know about these things

1. the bottom of my gear box had a some oil on it so we cleaned it off and had a look round the joints and such looking where the elak could be coming from every surface was dry no leaks form the ussal suspects so we looked at the caseing bolts only to find we could turn ALL of them a good 5 or 6 turns till they where tight nice!!

2. the bolt that hold the gear linkage together yeah the bolt was there but no nut and it was loose as fuck.

not thats the really bad bits out the way all fixed so the £££ signs i saw flashing before my eyes have gone.

i seem to have a leak from my pwr stearing system but my fluid lvls aint dropping much at all so we aint to sure about that one we are gonna have to get it out and have a look at it another day.

bushes or something are gonna need replaced on the passenger side as there is alot of squeaking when driving and going voer bumps form that side once agian any ideas on what else could cause that would be good.

other than those small bits he seems to think it will fly through its mot wihtout issue

reason im posting this info here is if anyone has had the same problems with the pwr stearing pump and the squeaking and got it fixed so i aint having to ass around with differnt part i could jsut go rightt o the center of the issue

. and , are good things, please use them. sorry but it had to be said.

as for issues, for power steering fluid loss, check the banjo bolt that fixes the big hose to the pump, or the cooling bar at the front of the engine bay, between the slam panel and bumper. squeaky driving could be engine mount, anti roll bar bush, springs make creaky noises occasionally as well. best not worry about the squeak unitl the mot, you could waste hours loking for it.

little update got all the brakes of yesterday put on a full set of ebc drilled and grooved along with a new set of greenstuff pads.

the seats i mentioned before fell through when i went and had a better look at them i decided to let them go as the frames and everything where different sizes and jsut dont have the time or money to get subframes sorted out to get them to fit.

car goes off the road on the 1st of july as im having the engine rebuilt.

respray will be getting done while the engine is getting worked on it is getting done "TV2 - Bayside Blue" as i have always liked that shade of blue will update this again after the work begins

yeah i know its like im on fucking go kart wheels atm. but as i said money is my issue atm and i gotta get myself to aberdeen this week to swap my exhuast warrenty over which is £30 and about another £30 on fuel so there 60 straight away plus when i got the old wheels off im gonna have to replace the 4 of them as im running close ot the legal limit
4 goodridge's £300 or there abouts so im kinda in a bad place atm as well i got 2 new front seats to pay for which is £150.

seat where ordered before all this ahssle came up so all i can say atm is im pretty fucked and im praying for that silvr lining to start showing on the clouds

but thank u for the prestine comment :)

i payed 180 inc fittin balening etc for all four weels, i got goodridges too!

why the rebuild matey?

engine is coming up on 100k and im wanting to turbo it at some point this year or early next so im wanting to make sure the engine and all its componets are in good order, plus ive been looking at some ppls build where they have used the VE top end and cam with the DE bottom so im currently doin some reseach on that idea and looking at prices

if you do the ve thing you would essentailly be rebuilding it again anyway.......... so why not just wait?

question willy, unless ive missed something, have you passed your test yet? im not having a go, so dont think that... but... if memory serves, rhyds was the same power as what mine is now, which is 171 and quick enough to have a LOT of fun, im on 125k and still going well, thought i had probs to start with but it was just a collection of small faults. if i were you i'd leave the engine well alone and enjoy it until it blows, THEN you have a reason to go turbo!

Like Tommo said, his is on 125k and it still pulls like the love god himself on a drunken saturday night, fueled by Jager Bombs.
This car is COMPLETELY fast enough for you.. Or any of us bro.. I know that from personal experience lol.
Unless there's a problem with how its running since you purchased it?.. I'd leave it well alone.. Just keep it serviced and drive it!
I also wouldn't try a rebuild when your calling the Head the `top end`, just something I noticed ;)
