My JDM Y0 Pulsar Serie GTi

Stu why's the Intercooler leaning back like that? Definitely fit it flat so the air can flow through easily.
Otherwise.. good to see you making progress!
Joe

The red one was like that too Joe. It wouldnt fit any other way, not without big modifications. Trust us!

I'd do the modifications to get the cooler sitting right though...
Surely thats a given... otherwise you may as well not have the cooler at all?!
Joe

What?! lol. Dont forget stu still managed 280bhp @ 0.6 bar with this setup. So it's tried and tested really. All it needs is airflow. It's a big heatsink so not all need to be in airflow either. If it was horizontal then I could see your concerns.

I would have thought the air would have to flow through the fins for it to work as efficiently as if should.
Probably still works ok..

It's only a few degrees so there still will be good airflow through the fins :)

V-mounted intercooler says hello

Sweet that. These get airflow forced up from below through the bumper correct?

Shame there's no space in the Almera for this. Shorter pipes = less lag with this setup.

just noticed on that RX- they have an inlet manifold cooling duct.. that orange piipe goes to a reverse mounted intake duct that fits the gap of the inlet manfold perfect to cool it! nice bit of thinking there..

You'd need slim intercoolers and cutting into the bumper - anything possible but perhaps not at 45 degrees.
Besides lag just gives the other a false pretense that they're getting ahead, then woosh they've had their chance! :D

you could do a half and half.. like this impreza

intercooler behind the grill and number plate rad mounted on a slant with a duct cover

Hey that's not bad. Gives me ideas for my setup as the aircon rad gets in the way a bit but looks like they've mounted their aircon rad horizontal too.

Edk you chat like 280bhp is an epic figure lol...
Thats absolutely nothing in the SR20 world.. Especially with the spec stu's got.
280bhp is like the minimum anyone's ever got from a DE+T.. Most people pull more than that from a completely stock engined DE+T.
Obviously Stu's engine has got potential for like.. Double that power, if only he had a better turbo that could create that kind of boost!
Joe

You misunderstand. I always quote it with the '@ 0.6 bar'. That's what's impressive. I'd have to be blind, ignorant or Eddie to not know of much higher power SR20s.

He never got the chance to remap with the new injectors so we never knew what it would get to under say 1.2 bar. Hell, after the ramp 0.6 bar could have had even better results than the original turbo engine. That turbo will got to 1.7bar though so I reckon it would see serious power then. Does annoy me when people don't read posts properly
