Are you gonna make the engine safe for 8k, or are you gonna lower the rev limit?
Cos you WILL pop a rocker off if you rev it to 8k (which you will with a boosted SR, as the revs pick up so quick!)

realy glad i came down this weekend...

cars looking great, and we made a good job of getting the pipeing all sorted out and the oil cooler in place :)

hose running for the win... looks great coming round the rocker :lol:

have u had time to go to the plumbing place over the last couple of days.... and have u sorted out the brackets for the guages???

This doesn't rev to 8k does it? The counter may say 8 but I'm pretty sure it's actually 7.5k. Autechs only go to 7.5k don't they?

Dunno if Stu is gonna be using the Sr18 ECU or his original SR20 ECU though.

Either way, 8000rpm wont be necessary...7500rpm is plenty.
 
he is using the SR18 loom... and piggy backing off of it with a dastek, so he should be able to alter the rev limit and such on mapping..

i know hes having two settings a on road driver profile. (low boost 6-8 PSI) and a drag strip hardcore profile (1 Bar :) )
 
looking at the dyno the rev limit is at 7550. wezz said that will be fine, i will most probably get the limit lowered,
i will be using the sr18de ecu not the UKDM gti one, as the imports have no NATS.

although it revs to 8k on the clock its actually 7550.

Yeah rob i went down to Abbey hoses and got the bits so it is now all sorted, i know have my oil pressure sender and oil temp sender all fitted, and my rad T piece turned up today too, :)

just got to sort out the vacuum lines then its all gravy! :)

stock boost @ 0.6 bar and 1.2 bar for a bt more ooompff lol
 
7550rpm will blow the rockers off on a boosted DE IMO.. It'd be foolish not to upgrade the valve springs at a bare minimum.

means alot as your motor is fantasic, and you did a brilliant job on it too.
ive taken my time doing all this too, 6 days in a row ive spent outside working it, just the rear coilies to fit and overall adjust, and sort the piping.
relaxed a bit tonight, :)

getting on it tomorro again, :thumbs:
 
joe i could convert the head to a non roller rocker!, ive got my sr18de engine sitting here, :)
then ill have a big choise of cam upgrades open to me, :):), lol,
im keeping std cams,
 
Nah seriously yours puts mine to shame. I'm going to strip mine again and do things a bit better, just waiting for more sunshine. I need a marquee (sp) like you've got and plenty of space/Electricity.

Why don't you just get those valve springs I told you about Stu?
I'm telling you now you're gonna pop a rocker at 7.5k man! You don't seem to be worrying about any of this at all?? When in reality this could be the fate of your engine!
