My JDM Y0 Pulsar Serie GTi

looking damn good from where im sitting stu, well done.

regarding the potential damage joe says at 7500, i cant see nissan making the engine so dangerously close to a damaging rev range, isnt stock gti limit 6995? whats an extra 500? id be amazed if this was the case

CoV its only an extra 500rpm like you say.. but don't forget its on a boosted motor, imagine how hard its going to be hitting the rev limiter.. like 10x harder than an N/A engine.. I'd feel vounerable on stock rev limit if I was boosted...
Joe

Did Mark change his? and he went on the ring and it's been running for a while now. Probably not an issue. Nissan always over engineer and that's why the SR is such a strong motor.

Ed, Simmo's on stock rev limiter, and only 7psi boost.
Arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
Fuck it I give up.

Well nobody's taking it seriously.
This motor WILL pop a rocker off IMO.
All it'd take to bullet proof the valve train is some Valve Springs (£120 + VAT from CatCams...)
Joe

Well Cov dismissed it, You said "Simmo's hasn't done it so why should Stu's" (when Stu's higher rev limit + double the boost is obviously gonna have some effect..) and the Stufa hasn't even commented.
I posted it at the top of the last page and nobody replied, I only got replies when I posted for a second time.
I even text him about it lol.
I'm not being funny here, Just trying to help as I feel this is a genuine issue.
Joe

haha well what do I know Joe, I own an N16 derv  and Stu hasnt posted caused he's been busy building his car! He hasnt been online in days he says because of the work he's putting into it :). Maybe throw him a text to voice your concern as I'm sure he'll take it on board :) Although didnt he say he's having the rev limit lowered in his last post in response to what you said?

looking at the dyno the rev limit is at 7550. wezz said that will be fine, i will most probably get the limit lowered,
i will be using the sr18de ecu not the UKDM gti one, as the imports have no NATS.

although it revs to 8k on the clock its actually 7550.

Ah yes :)

I did text him, he basically did't respond lol.
Rev limit lowered would be good, but I still wouldn't assure its safety, bouncing off the redline under all that boost :S
Ah well, my suggestion is there Stu.. if you wanna take it on board.
Joe

stock GTi rev limit is 7250, fact as i got it from the HKS camp system, which read directly from the ecu., :)

an extra 300 rpm cant hurt imo :)

but depending on where the max power point is i might lower it as it will be more unnecessary rather than dangerous :)

dont worry joe baby, i know what im doing ;)
ive got a few months yet before it gets mapped so its cool :)

Back to the rockers for a mo, i dont see how it matters wether its boosted or not, the limiter is the limiter, why would they pop a rocker if there not being moved any faster than lets say the rev limit is set at 7250. Im not being an arse by the way im genuinely looking for an answer?

I think Joe means the speed at which the rev limiter hits, i.e. the engine it going to rev up faster when booster over lesser power. But isnt the limiter software rather than something hardware so it's not like it's actually physically being limited?

IMO it's the fact that's it's not just hitting the limiter, it's slamming the fuck into the limiter!

I know what you're getting at but the rate that the engine gathers revs on a boosted engine is a hell of alot more than an n/a one, if you get what i'm saying!

agh i get what your saying, imo it would be fine for now however there may be that day when the rate it hits the limiter just that little too violently and pop, no major rush on it. thanks for the explaination :)

Just do what i did, set ur cams up a bit gay and have all the power trailing off by 7k, no chance of limiter bouncing :)

rockers coming off on boosted roller rocker engines happens all the time just go on sr20 forums and see how many people have grenaded their motors doing just that...

hell Im worried about it happening on mine, which is why Im taking steps to prevent it :)

virtualy all done now chappies :)

just need to do some fine tuning to the coilies, sort out the guage holder location, and get a new oilcooler as mine has a small leak from the accident :(
i also need to re-paint my rocker cover and hks filter cover.

i turned the FPR down to 1 bar,and it still runs super rich, turn it up and it goes to stall, lol,
my AF guage reads off th scale, but goes down when you rev it a llitte, not revving it over 2k,
it sounds the bees knees :):)

im super happy and proper proud of what ive done and got, :D:D:D
