Nahh the beach was rammed with families Ed.. :)
I'm currently halfway through swapping the clutch for tomorrow..
I'll upload the pics and the loong story later on.. But put it this way.. I no longer have a lightened flywheel :(
Joe

So Since my clutch failed on Saturday night.. and I had a track day booked up for tuesday.. Monday was the day for a bit of fixage :D
Firstly.. had to go and fetch the clutch off my spare Primera P11 GT engine (Wasn't even sure it would be ok, as I've never used the engine..!!)

It looked Good!! and it was genuine Nissan!!

So now came the strip down of my car!

And the clutch was FRIIIIIED!!!:

So I proceeded to fit the new clutch... But had a problem...
old clutch:

New:

As you can see.. it fouls on the flywheel.. so I figured that the Primera flywheel must be different.. so I had to trek back to the lockup to fetch it...

As you can see.. the central bore is slightly deeper.. allowing the clutch to fit.. so I proceeded to fit the primera flywheel.. (Shame the Almera one was lightened :()
No fly:

Primera Fly Fitted:

Clutch fitted!!

And it was all good!! :D:D! Seems fine again!

I finished the clutch change about 6PM so I had enough time to fit my stoppage devices for the track day too :D
The Brakes.. Pulsar GTiR Calipers / New Standard Discs / EBC Redstuff pads / Goodridge Stainless Hoses:

Replaced fluid with DOT 5.1 too :)
Needless to say.. its been a Verrrrry long day!
Joe

good stuff mate, glad you sorted it

been out in it? any diff with fly? but the prim flywheel fits? so i can get mine lightened from the p11 engine and fit it with almera clutch?!

I'm not sure about using it with the Almera clutch mate.. I wouldn's anyway because the Primera Flywheel is slightly thicker & heavier.. you can see it in the pictures.
I haven't fully tested it yet cos the brakes need some bedding in.. but I'll let you know what the fly feels like.
Joe

good work lad you'll sleep well tonight haha least the clutch will hold up for the track day. the old one was well and truely fcuk'd eek lol

leaving the o/s driveshaft in FTW lol

Okay so I've just been out for a drive...
The good news is, the brakes feel great, although I haven't pushed them too far as they need wearing in properly. The clutch also feels really positive and grips fantastically.
The even better news is, it feels a hell of a lot faster now, dunno if the heavier Fly actually helps it?? But once you're moving, the acceleration is fantastic!!
Joe

I can't believe it actually feels faster.. I dunno if its just cos the clutch is gripping now..
Just seems to pull a lot better than it ever has now, strange haha.
Joe

You've got the added momentum of the flywheel to push forward so like you say once you're moving it helps. It's what the flywheel is for :) You're engine braking should be reduced also. Just means you'll be a tad slower off the line.

course it feels faster the clutch is gripping now haha, a lighten flywheel throughout acceleration pulls better than oe.

dd

No argument with you but just to ask, if the flywheel is spinning, i.e. driving the car forward to an extent, then hammering the throttle down from that point means the car can react quicker to the throttle as the engine is helped along by the momemtum isnt it? I agree it will be quicker off the line with a lightened flywheel and quicker overall, but it would feel quicker in gear without?
