My N15 5-door GTi Build...

TUESDAY
Been sorting a few niggles today, Including taking the gearbox back off to replace the creaking clutch thrust bearing, nothing too exciting for you to see:

Then I whipped the gearbox back on along with the other stuff I had to remove, and put the bonnet back on too:

Tomorrow the driveshafts are being fitted along with the front coilovers! Then the car will be back on its feet and driveable ;)
Joe

get in!!

is it just me or do your coilovers look extremely long here lol

Lol it was said before :)
But the spring diameter is really small compared to standard springs.. also the spring seat is lower down the shock body itself.. just hope they drive good!
Joe

Good that you're still going at this mate, can't wait to see it ;) Coilies looking smarter too :thumb:

great job... did you have to use spring compressors when putting the coilover back together.. never attempted to take the suspention appart..

Nice one... The engine bay has certainly come up well with a good clean look forward to seeing it finished. I see you've got the lights on now all up and working!!

WEDNESDAY
Got a fair bit done today :D:D
Driveshafts still attatched to the ratty old GTi hubs:

I decided not to fit the inners as they looked in perfect order.. so just added some fresh grease.
Then I fitted the shafts to the car.. Nobody told me the drivers side one was such a pig to bolt up to the block!! arghh.
But it went alright so I decided to whack on my suspension and wheels and see how low it dropped.. and I couldn't get the trolley jack out at first lol..
Enjoy..

The Engine cradle is 2.5" from the ground.. I'm gonna have to higher it a bit lol:

And the money shot:

The suspension feels ok so far.. feels like its got a hell of dampening lol, Hope its alright :)
Joe :)

rubber splitter, cable tied on incase it get caughts itll just snap the ties and do no damage, the lower looking the better

Well I did go through a phase of wanting a full GTi bodykit.. I even purchased a mint Phase 2 GTi front bumper.. And I even had a rear splitter at one point. Both times I decided against it and sold them on.. I've still got a set of Phase 1 side skirts, I am really not feeling the bodykit look though now. Sleeper.. Smooth n Low ;) Joe

verry nice... do like the front of the almera with a wide mouth grill on... not too sure of the PH2 front lights work... but each to their own

No tax, Insurance or licence lol.
I'm still trying to get the money together to get it taxed cos thats not a problem.. then my dad could drive it down maybe.
We'll see.
On a brighter note.. Just drove it SR20 for the first time (Just to turn it around)... It moves ok put it that way lol.
Joe

Looooks good!

I'm liking the lack of a kit on this actually, tho I think with a kit it'd be even better :D

The p2 lights work excellent!
