My PH2 GTI

Update for the datsun..

End of June there, the tax ran out on the datsun, so.. I SORNed the car, and its nicely tucked up in the garage, so im making it my top priority that the car is gonna be MINT before it comes back out of the garage, which will be probably at the end of august before i get round to taxing it again.

Anyway, here is the first steps on making the car mint

Painted rocker cover and inlet

Also wipped the front bumper of and gave in behind it a clean down

Underneath the battery tray was getting a little tatty so it's been cleaned down an given a lick of paint (until I get done ar2) and all bolts cleaned and copper greased

Next up is to respray the front bumper, lower the coilivers more, install wheel spacers And paint wheels.
Along with this I'm looking forward to polishing the car up :-)
 
Thanks Matey. Cant wait to get the almera back on the road i must admit lol! the 106 derv saves me cash, but not 1/4 as fun to drive lmao!
 
Haha yea I can imagine it ain't bud, my sister lent me her megane coupe when mine was in for a clutch, hated the little French piece of shite :lol:

Looking good. All mera engines look better with a few simple things like this tidied up. Have you thought about taking the mani off, masking the rocker and spraying the head with silver high temp paint? Then whislt the mani is off, either polish or spray that too.

i like that idea tbh.. That mani has never been of lol! So i would dread taking it of.
I have been contemplating heat wraping the manifold tho
 
After 2 long months of debbie sitting in the garage, i have finally got of my ass, got the little slag taxed, tidyed it up, and put it on the road. The last thing on the agenda was to tidy up the front end behind the bumper, remove rust, and paint. The car also got another coat of underseal, so she is well undersealed!!

Thought id throw an update across as it has been a while:

After my mid life crisis, and thinking about selling the gti, ive decided to keep it. Ive decided to de rust it, and paint what needs painted, and replace all rusted bolts etc with stainless, and do things right, to help the almera, get through the winter.

So here is where i am starting with. Spent some of the day on sat, whipping out the Jim Wolf Cams, and replacing with the originals, also, purchased a Blanking socket for the dastek, as i ave also decided not to sell this, as i am going to map it again with original cams.

So pulled the front bumper of, lights, and both front wings, and here is what i found...

AS you can see its rusted to shit, so i have had the bottom of this cut of, and a piece welded, and shaped to suit, just need to get it fitted, and bolted on.

Time for Debbie The Datsun Update!!

Ill Maybe let the Pictures do the talking... I have been busy getting the new wing lined up, and concentrating on getting the car back on the road. Here is what the timeline had been.

Wing of (with use of Angle grinder, Hack Saw, and hammer)
Get a patch welded where the wing used to meet the sill
Fit new wing, and drill the bottom, where it was to line up on the sill

This took a bit of messing about.. The wing wasnt a perfect fit firstly when we put it on. Holes had to be drilled out, and wing bracbrackets had to be bent etc.. But.. Mate of mine works with body work for charles hurst, and he had his gap gauges etc down, and we managed to get it as good as we could

The car is in Dire need of a good clean, inside and out, and could do with being buffed up, but its all in the pipeline. Had no windscreen bonder, so skirts still need to go on
 
Cheers Guys for the nice comments. Its nice to see the car getting back to the way it was, and things are actually going right lol

Anyway... In the pipeline are as follows:

Interior needs WetVac'd and gutted out
Rear Axel bushes need changed, as there is a small clunk from rear going over bumps
Going to buy shorter springs from meisterR to bring the car down a bit more :-)
 
Bear in mind with shorter springs they will most likely also be stiffer to reduce the amount the wheel can move in the arch, as you wont have the same amount of travel to play with as you do at the moment.

Wing looks good though, nice one.
 
Im not overly bothered about how Comfortable it is, as long as its SUPALOW!! lol

Ya can buy Assister springs that go below the normal springs, and they are supposed to lower the car more, and not effect the spring rate. But i cant see the logic in that for some reason lol
