Why have you brought a 20VE though Steve when you've already got one in & running? You do know that you won't gain anything right?
The compression will be the same etc.
And I'll give you £400 just for the complete head and necessary oil fittings.

i was going to rebuild it but got a complete ve for the same cost
so it saves me a rebuild

Compression will be lower, but with a VE bottom end he'll have oil squirters, a lower mileage cleaner block/crank/oilp pump and dished pistons that he isn't limited to 20VE cams only like the flat tops.

Can you use the origonal ECU or you need it mapped on your currently GTI ECU?
 
the ve is fitted and running
also fitted gspec water and crank pulleys
poly engine bushes (gspec)
thermoblock spacers (outlaw engineering)
fto brake conversion (craigGTI)
clutch and pressure plate (sam)
 
Have you sorted out the management yet?
I'm still puzzled why you've swapped out your old motor for a lower compression one :( ???
Unless your boosting it...
