I'm sure my mate who did my MOT said 1st of Jan for the "having to have a cat even if it passes the emissions test without one" law. He must have been wrong.

You know Diesels don't have emissions tests? As I say its a smoke test and I heard the Diesel rule comes in later whereby if it came with a CAT at factory it must have one fitted. Until this new 2012 rule Diesels have not had to have a CAT at all. Hope I didn't hear wrong! Find out soon...

Yeah I know, every 306 D Turbo I have had has just had a smoke test for the MOT and all of them have been de-catted, including the one I have as a daily now. Point I was getting at is exactly what you said, if it had one from the factory then it will fail if it doesn't have one now.

Ah sorry. Yeah well here's hoping its not in yet, or these guys are sympathetic!

Ed.

Realists. I've compared Leigh's N1 spoiler and can't see how it would go on an N16. Not enough lid to mount to.

cut along the white line, this makes it the same width as the n16 bootlod and still leaves 2 of the 3 mounting bolts (or you could fab a new mount) and it certainly does suit the n16 shape, well in my eyes anyway ;)

best of luck with the mot bud!

Two of three doesn't sound good to me.10,000 miles later it'll be wobbling or even shear off.

No no let's put this idea to rest I never wanted to in the first place and I won't.

Ed - I've just had my Auris through the MOT & it was tested for emissions. Perhaps it's because it's a 2008 car ? But I have a print-out of the test.

Ed, a pure and simple blowover not including major body work can be had from 400.

If you want the insides done and everything else perfect, with bodywork, i could probably leave some change from 1k.

No way that mark for a stunning job... or could get it wrapped again well under £750

Buy cheap, buy twice.

/end.

Ed dont even entertain the idea of a £400-1000 respray.

Congrats on the MOT pass and my vote does go to BS7.

Quite right really Damo. Silver is really smart, and if I can get the paintwork sorted then I will love the black I'm sure it's just I like to weigh my options as the opportunity is there if it's getting sprayed anyway.

El that spoiler is quite nice. Very tempted to try it if you can hold it and bring it to tubs please?I would then get a mint non spoiler tailgate which would solve my dent and scratch issues I have with the current. Easy getting non-spoiler tailgate but not spoiler'd it would seem.

Ed pop over sat morning as there are a couple N16's at the local yard can maybe check if they are mint and sort your need for one?

Does seem cheap. Can't be getting much for labour/time there? But one thing concerns me is that there is no car left that you've sprayed that's still around to judge, they're all been broken or sold on, so there's no way of knowing if it'll even last over a year before showing signs of problems. A bit like how Craig's paint job went. I'm not saying yours definitely would do that but you must understand I would need assurances that it will last. It's one thing to see a nice finish, and it's another to see that same nice finish three years later.

Got some clips for the side skirts, and random blocks of plastic to make the mounts from. More body clips too as they always break. Also purchased a bargainous pair of Continental Sport Contact 2s from eBay. They're 225/40/16, brand new, and were £100 for the pair! :) Going on my 8J TypeCs.
