N16 DCi-R

Ed, you lucky boy! Not only did you find a rare as fuck bonnet.. But its in your colour.. I bet you're over the moon haha :)
Can't wait to see the progress with the grill mate :)
Definitely gonna look wicked!
Keep the updates coming x

It's had the exhaust done, but this will still be a benchmark for future mods. Fairly happy as it's up from the stock 136. Torque is lower at 213ftlbs rather than 224 which is odd as it still pulls like hell. Made a loss of 25hp at the wheels though :S Will be hoping remap sorts out torque curve drop off after 3300rpm.

Yes it would have.

Not a bad result there Ed - good power & solid torque. Strange that it lost a bit of pull tho' ?

Well it doesnt feel like it's lost anything. After the exhuast the torque had defintitley gone up, but as Steven says it would have been interesting to see numbers on that. Manufacturers numbers are fairly BS anyway.

Hey Ed,
Love your project, how did the bonnet and grill mod go down, any pics, where did you purchase the bonnet from as I wouldnt mind one along with a decent grill to go with it, please advise, I am a new AO lol. Cheers

Hi. I was VERY lucky with the bonnet and I bought it from a parts company in the UK selling it on Ebay. I very much doubt you'd see that again. For reference though the Ebay shop is here http://stores.ebay.co.uk/Crash-Repair-Parts and if you search in Google for Crash Repair Parts you'll get their actualy website with contact details etc. If they don't have another one see how much it would be to import (as that's what they do). Might be cheap if they mass import stuff all the time.

Bonnet is from a Sentra in Malaysia or a Pulsar in Austraila. Both designated N16s. The grille is from X-Racing in Australia and cost £120 shippeda a while ago. Havnt gotten round to the conversion yet as I've moved house and gone self emplyed since, so have other priorites at the mo unfortunatly. Bring on 2009 when it should all get going again :)

Re: Grinder

Lol, is it not a cheaper option to use a grinder (body work specialist off course) then sand and smoothen the straight line down, then fir the grill. Ed can you post latest pick off your ride plzzzzzzzzzz :D
cheers

Well I got a quote for that kind of work at it was £500. So far I've spent £190 on the grille and bonnet. I can paint the grille myself then all it needs will be some work on the bumper. Have to get that done somewhere, or is anyone a dab hand with filler/fibreglass?

No for modifying the bonnet and bumper, and spraying the bonnet, grille and bumper. Basically to do all the work from stock. Now I have a pulsar/sentra bonnet already painted and will paint the grille myself, it's going to be a lot cheaper as only the bumper will need work now.

fair enough mate. you got a quote for the bumper yet ?

Had a DPT box installed at Paramount Performance today. It's a stop gap until I get more done to the engine in the future and get a proper remap. Now the run before the box came out as 131bhp which is 7 less than at Surrey RR, so with this I'm taking all my readings with a pinch of salt really. But driving is better as it's stronger lower down, torque doesnt drop off nearly as much, and there's definite improvment in fueling past 3K :) I've also been told by Paramount that the power and drive should improve as this digital box learns.
