N16 DCi-R

Air ratios varry all the time in a diesel. Less fuel to go slower, more to go faster. There's no throttle as the air intake is contastantly open.So I would guess at idle it just spirts in less fuel if the revs start to ramp.
 
Sad to hear that the K-sports have let you down like that man.

I did advise they'd probably need rubbed down / treated on the threads if you wanted to adjust the ride height but that's got nothing to do with their dampening as you've said.

That's Kurt's and mine now from k-sport which seem to have been leaking after a relatively short while which you're right ed - is worrying.

Did you speak to kev about it at all? What'd he say about them only lasting a year or so?

less fuel and tones of fresh air = lean at idle = problem. Nitrogen oxide or NOX is created ie green house gases, very bad. Its clear im gunna have to reveal my thoughts here. The egr valve reticulates exhaust gases thus limiting the amount of fresh/clean air entering the cylinders. air/fuel ratio achieved.

I think problems will occur if you blank if off on this vehicle. The O2 sensor will be going crazy, saying that you have no cat do you? come MOT time yam fooked. gunna need a magic map maybe

Not on a diesel mate. Doesnt need a cat as it's done on a smoke test. I was worried but have be reassured by more than one MOT tester.

After being taken out by you you've re-enforced my thoughts that the N16 is a more neutral handling car than the N15. I thought it before, but wasn't sure if the characteristics of the N15 was down to the extra power the GTi has. Your YD22 has similar power to a standard GTi and loads more torques so was a good comparison. The rear is so much more planted.

It made me want an N16 again :'(

I think I'll be giving those tyres of yours a bash next time round as well as the performance in the wet was immense!

Haha and you were all "noooo it's a diesel I can't *cries*" :lol:. Glad you were pleasently surprised. Yeah those tyres win don't they.

What did you other lot think about the drive?
 
I'm quite intuiged by this actually, I doubt it's the EGR stopping the engine running stupidly lean, loads of people run no EGR on their diesels.

Indeed and have no problems. Regular a mod over on TDOC as N15s with parked rear wipers.
 
Got my catch tank in. Ghetto fixtures for now. Will make up a bracket later on.

Note orange washer cap :D.

cheers man, just dont go too crrazy with the orange ;) although if you do add a few more orange bits,
get some black bits i there,

Yeah no worries, I'm going to use the orange as accenting. i.e. my IC hoses are all black, but 3mm vacuum hoses will be orange, might get a few annodised bolts here and there. Possibly badges painted orange. That sort of thing :).
