EDK - HELP PLEASE

Hi EDK (and all other members)

I am specifically directing this at EDK as I too have a 2.2 dCi. Opinions and views from all members will be most welcome.

I have very recently purchased a N16 P2 2.2 dCi. Have never owned a diesel car before. Also first Almera.

EDK; I was particularly interested in your thread where you said that overtaking is a breeze and hills are no longer a problem.

My Almera seems to run out of steam at +- 3000 rpm. Acceleration seems pretty dim.

What is wrong?!?!

Help please.

Have you had your car in for recall work? I found the same for mine. One of the problems of the YD engine was that the turbos were susceptible to exploding, caused by the ECU sending the wrong boost signal. The recall will replace your ECU with a Denso unit. After mine was replaced I found that 3,000 to 4,000 RPM was much more lively.

Word of warning though. If you plan to remap your ECU then first check your ECU. If it is made by Bosch then that's good. Keep it but get the remap done ASAP. If it's Denso then go get the recall work done. You see Densos are very hard, if not impossible, to remap.

Have you had a service recently? Loss of power could be caused by an already damaged turbo. Service might pick up on that. To be honest mate it could a lot of reasons. Dirty injectors, faulty diesel pump. Get it checked out.

Thank you EDK.

Guess I'll have to go to a dealership to get a diagnostic done. Called up one today to check recalls and apparently they have all been done.

Ive also got a DCI and had some loss of accleration. its gone into the garage today after it started making nasty rattle noises and it turns out the timing chain is at fault.

I've already had the turbo replaced 6months ago, no loss of accleration when that was on its way out, it just made a whislteling noise.

Thats a week after i've had the clutch and flywheel replaced at a cost of £1300 (Both have to be replaced together!).

Luckily i made a wise decision and took out a warranty last year. Its saved me huge amounts of money.

Ouch that's a lot of problems in a short time! What warranty did you get as the AA one I had when I bought the car didn't cover Turbo faults and replacements which I thought was pretty pointless. Also did you have recall work done before the turbo went?

Polished my bonnet...

Currently badgeless and decided to take a few more picys

Ive got a warranty with Warranty Direct. It covers most items, but as my car has just over 60k on the clock they will only pay out for 90% of the repairs. I made sure i had the recall work carried out within my first week of owning the car, about 2 years ago.

Just calculated that my car has had £3700 spent on it this year, thank **** for warranties!

Christ; every time I see more pics of this car it seems to look better and better. Gorgeous N16 Edk & the photography is brilliant too, fair play....

Just a quick question for edk, as I to am now a fellow N16 diesel, do you know if the front and rear lights from a phase2 N16 will fit on a phase 1 n16

They will but the front will need a little modding. There's a how to on the forums somewhere.

Boo can't find the 'how to' do you know how much work is involved? is it just the wiring or does wing/body/bumper have to be modded?? thanks

P.S, really like what you've done with yours
