N16 SR16VE

heh it does indeed, now if we ever have a minimeet and a few days later the speeding tickets start dropping throught the door i'll know who to blame lol :shades:

When are you coming up this way mate? Would be good to see ya. Ask Paul (Almerasleeper), Kingy's brews are legendary, LOL. Also, I teach advanced driving and don't speed (on public roads at least), wink

i was only pulling your leg bud :), advanced driving eh! very cool! never got more than my pass plus or my motorsports licence lol

as for the meet it won't be till i can get the suspension etc swapped and my 5 spoke lightweight alloys on the 51 plate, as i don't want to be shown up too much by you and pauls motors lol, as for when that happens who knows but the north east N16 contingent pictures will be immense imho lol? i've got an add up in the local shop asking farmers with a spare corner in a barn that their willing to rent for a few weeks to call me but i've yet to have any luck, and trying to find a unit to lease that's big enough for a couple of cars (even long term lease) is VERY pricey, you would think that in todays climate that someone would be glad of a hundred notes for a corner af a barn or big shed for a few weeks but apparently not :(

also just a quick question, what's the paint code for your car, as it looks to be a different colour to mine?

Repeaters, splitter, headlights, tax disc, wind deflectors, aero wipers, fog lights?

Do I get a star? :)

Good on ya taking on the VVL swap. You might want to think about making it a 2.0 though for more torque ;)

thanks guys, i'd be slightly more worried if i was the first to do the swap but it's been done before in greece so i know it's definately possible and if i comeacross any difficulty i'll hopefully be ably to contact the guy (he's a member here too), and like kingy says torque is cheap (well a crank swap to 2.0L) but i'm going to leave that till this time next year i just want to get the swap done and working first, though looking at the price of an SR16VE compared to a SR20VE i should have just plumped for the SR20VE straight out, but i'm committed to the SR16 now.

gold star for ed

though you was off by one, but that was due to my lousy counting lol (or not including the tax disc holder as a mod lol), the mods were

ph2 rear wiper
aero wipers
clear side repeaters
ph2 headlights
front fogs
wind deflectors
magnetic tax disc holder (got to be worth 10whp!!)
and lastly a shortened alloy ariel

modded grills are the next thing on the to-do list, and of course waiting for paypal to put two deposits into my bank account so i can verify it so as to pay for the SR16VE!!

look whats sitting waiting to be shipped to me, drool, i'm just away to call paypal and see what the fook they are doing about verifying my bank account, i'd have been quicker clearing the space on my credit card at this rate!

[edit]

well that's the loom sorted out then  thanks again to justin @ partsguru!! just an awesome guy imho!

yeah it should be, the vz-r's only came with lsd boxes didn't they? and i think that's why the bulge is beside the nearside driveshaft input? but i'm open to be corrected (though i hope not lol)

yeah it should be, the vz-r's only came with lsd boxes didn't they?

Nah the pulsar gtis and autech did too. Good bit of kit. Could you get them to post a pic of the hole coming out the box? That will tell you. Sam posted the difference on his thread

May be wrong, but think you need the Lsd driveshafts too

Steve

yeah the nearside driveshaft is different, but i thought that the "V" at the end of the name stood for viscose lsd? instead of A at the end for the standard box?

well some more goodies arrived today, after a major f&^k about getting a megan racing strut brace from the UK seller (Speed Culture in paignton, devon) i ended up ordering this one off ebay, it cost just over a tenner for the strutbrace and just under forty quid all in and 6 days to get it from the US to me, that's how things should be done speed culture you fookin cowboys! it weighs in at 1.38kg all in which i think is not too bad but i'm not sure what other N16 strutbraces weigh so i can't be sure. but i'm happy

6 day parts from the US y0!!!

Good to see this project gaining momentum Harry! VVL time soon then

I was wondering if you could do me a favour, seeing as you have a tailgate without a spoiler...?

liam i got some better pics today which will hopefully let you know what your after, before you get nicked for going equipped for measuring up lol.

today i fitted up the strutbrace, man it was tough work and took all ..... .. .

of five minutes to do  looks pretty good imho, funny thing is when i was out for the test drive once fitted i came across a PH2 1.5 N16 (well i presume it was a 1.5) which had a nice exhaust and wheels on it, i don't know if it had anything else but i totally wiped the floor with him off the lights and up to 70? i thought the PH2's had more power then the PH1's did? anyway i'm going to take a 0-60 vid on some private land and see what my car does and compare it to stock numbers. well here's the pics of the monster powerplant and the strutbrace ;)
