Nope. Happened while driving.

Searching google turns up that it is fairly common for braided lines to do this when there is an electrical short against the body.

So common, that chris knew about it lol
 
Bloody hell, would never have thought that'd happen. Unless you changed them, they were goodridge ones I put on. Thatd have to be some short to do that though

Yeah one of the goodridges ruptured last summer, i fitted the hel's i had off the gx.

I dunno where the short came from, nothing apparent during stripping. But both front brake lines were toasted

It's more likely that the difference in weight is down to the tyres. There is often a difference in weight from one tyre manufacturer to another. Also rubber is heavy stuff, a few mm off the tread will make a difference. The only fair test is to weigh 2 wheels together without tyres, valves or wheel weights.
 
Well next time i dig out my GTI alloys i will check the weight. Im sure one of mine is significantly lighter and has the ridges on the inside, however i understand what you are saying about the tyres.
