Steven C GTi

I beat standard ST's at Crail in Kate. Like I said, they have a good surge of torque but off the line, aren't any faster than a modded GTi.

Lookin on the owners club they are running 300+hp to get to mid-high 14's without a diff and low to mid with one. It's a lot of weight to get off the line. At crail one running 360hp and open diff couldn't break into 13's while a RS running 400hp only managed a 13.6

35mpg!! Oh my GOD! The very best I ever got was 32mpg which was re-setting it on the motorway and having a 70mile motorway trip at 70mph. My average was about 20. The week before it went back it was 9. lol.

Anyways, enough of the Ford talk. Any more of that and the car might start to learn how to break it's self!!

Picked up de-cat gaskits at lunch and heading up to see if my man's got any gas for welding the middle box after work.

nice car fella, i luved it when i had it, car is in great condition and has had a lot of money put into it, luved the wheels, wish i kepted them when i sold it, what plans you got for it?

Cheers sneds.

Yeah after having it up on the ramp and having a proper deek through the receipts folder it's very clear that this car has been properly looked after and I'm not going to change that.

Dunno how you or billy drove it, but I plan to make the most of it's mods (old a coming).

The car was treated to a huge wash and polish session yesterday. She was given a snow foam and pressure wash followed by TBM wash with brand new mit. Dried off with sonus super drying towels and then rolled into the garage for the paint to be inspected all over including paint depth readings. OH. MY. GOD. The worst kept paint on an "enthusiasts" car I or my friend who's been valeting for nearly 10 years has seen.

She was then polished with an array of polishes including G3, Menz Intensive and Final Finish using the makita and medium to soft pads. Each panel was hit at least three times. EZ Glaze was then applied prior to being topped off with two layers of Dodo Juice Blue Velvet and then when I got back today I stuck a layer of Chemical Guys XXX Hardcore wax on as well.

I've discovered the following:

Front bumper has definately been re-sprayed
Rear bumper has definately been re-sprayed
Rear passenger 1/4 has definately been re-sprayed, while the rub strips were still on...
The roof and bonnet have probably also been resprayed
Every metal panel has a dent.

The pink is much more red now than it was, but it's still quite faded and there's not a lot of paint left to work with so don't want to polish more (should see the state of the polishing pads ahahaha!!). Overall tho, it's a huge improvement, although unfortunately it highlights the numerous flaws in the paintwork.

Untill the whole car gets blown over (not for a while...see below) then this will have to remain a 10 metre car.

The exhaust has been welded up at the middle box and the resonated de-cat is on. It's made a bit of an improvement but the car's definitely missing something in the low to mid range that the silver one had. I think the exhaust being squeezed down to about standard size is strangling it. I'm also convinced the 17's are not helping. The FPR is a standard item on this car just now and I'm tempted by a NISMO one. Need to check ignition timing too, but don't have a gun :(

Gave the front passenger side a good scrutinising today as well as the wheel seems to sit further "back" towards the side skirt than the front bumper than it should and it's pulling slightly to the left. The arms looks straight and I'm not spotting anything broken suspension wise etc. Anyone got any ideas?

Those Rota Torques arent that heavy. 8.2KG iirc plus tyres so you're probably looking at a weight not far off stock anyway, if not lighter (if 15" GTi wheels are anything like 15" GT wheels).

How'd you find the Blue Velvet?
I just put some Blue Velvet Pro Edition on mine the day. (the love is back)

So glad you used a PTG too. I'd recommend taking one with you when going to look at a car and taking a few sneaky readings. ;)

erm, where the hell are the before/afters? the 50/50 shots? the sun gun shots? show these big improvements? :tt2:

or at least just some shiny after pics!!

good stuff though man

Unless it's the larger rolling radius?
