'The Sleeper'

Sorry Ross, I ain't buying that at all. To save a few tenths of a second - quite possible. To shave off a whole second just with a change of track & the same mechanical spec - nope, I don't believe it would.

the yellow civic at banzai ran a 12.7 on the day, left for dead by dave

the very next weekend, same spec, it ran an 11.7 at santapod.

OK, myself and a number of guys returned to Crail Raceway today.

My own goal was a 2 part affair...

1 - To break into the 11's, being the first FWD car to do so at Crail Raceway

and

2 - Run over 130 mph terminal speed

Well after numerous runs, some changes with suspension, boost and launch techniques, added with a lot of frustration, I finally did it with a run of 11.94 @ 129.7 mph.

I also managed to run over 130 mph on 2 runs during the day.

JOB DONE!!!

Thank you guys for all your support and help, it's been worth it!

Oh and here is the first of many video...

Congratulations Dave, 6 years on and I still haven't seen this in the flesh! Maybe it'll be when you hit the 8 second barrier?

According to his facebook, Lee ran the same spec at Pod as he did at Crail.

On the face of it, 130MPH terminals is extremely close to 10sec car material.

Well done! As for lee's civic he dropped nearly a second just going to santa pod, the traction was instant hence the 1.7 60ft times he was hitting! This almera will be very close or even a 10 second car

Thanks for the comments guys, I really appreciate the support!

However, whether the car could hit tens is irrelevant to me.

The challenge was always to do the 11 second barrier at Crail Raceway and until someone else betters the time, then I won't be racing there again (maybe at the Banzai event just to piss off the Honda owners)

Besides, I have no more holidays to take this year (none till January), so it looks as though a trip down south will have to wait!

On the 1st of August 2010, I ran into the 12's in the car, running a 12.92 @ 120 and now nearly a year later I have taken off a whole second and added the best part of 10 mph to the terminal speed.

So, in saying that I have until this time next year to do the same again!

We shall see what happens!

Thanks again guys!
