The Turtle

any particular reason why you chose sr20de over the sr20ve (vvl)?

horsepower goals?

1320 time/class goal?

peace

Probably cost I would imagine, SR20DE conversions can be had for next to nothing, importing an SR20VE engine on its own here can run into thousands.

not setting any goals at this stage. all my thoughts are going into making it work. we are a few months away from hitting the track.

i guess it depends on your power level you want to achieve as well, not just cost

i assume the project will be all motor so vvl would be the way to go. more initial spending for vvl than sr20de.

but power to weight is key so a modded sr20de in a micra?

Update time :

Not alot has been done but enough to warrant some pics.

Most of this week and weekend has been spent on the turtle.

So far we have removed the whole interior. Seats, carpets, headliner etc.
We have also removed rear windows and sunroof which will be replaced with plastic windows. The front electric windows have now been changed for manual ones to save weight. All sound deadening in the car has been ripped out for weight saving. All the dashboard and heaters etc has been removed. and alot of wires that arent needed have been removed.

Along the way, alot of rust has been found on the floorpan, inner arches, outer arches and the front crossmember

So we started on removing that :

Hole on floor pan cut, welded and coated in zinc primer!
Still alot more welding and rust removal still to go.

We then started on extra chassis bracing. With some spare 2" exhaust pole lying around a welder we started on the rear.

Id be upset if i didnt get it!

But fuckhead best not be working in the little chef again ha!

another million prics from the bush!

why have you pu the bar there and nout just cut it down and gone between the strut tops?

we are gonna put something between the strut tops too. the plan is to put that bar as far back as we could and triangulate it from the boot floor, another just behind the driver at the highest point, with two legs going to the one at the back. just to give it a bit of strength. i dont like how 3 doors flex...
