updates on the n14 vvl/ nos/ lsd project

Could you not sense it a year ago when all this started?

Dale just rocks up and does it no biggy

No Dale did not do it easy.
He came Pod first remember and ran 14.42ish.

I think at Shakey's we all just had a fantastic track. Even Joe was shocked with his pb of 14.2

I would love to see who runs a 13's this year.

Sam if you want to get into numbers.

Dale- 219bhp?- 13.84
Wezz- 213bhp?- 14.02
Me- 196bhp?- 14.12
Superdan- 213bhp?- 14.35
Sam- 197bhp?- 15's?:p

Arggh, see what you have made me do Sam, you really know how to egg me on..lol

I was just comparing power to times...I am not even in the 200+ club yet but still running good ish times. What more do you expect.

To be honest until someone can beat my time, you can't all really say shite.
Only Dale and Wezz tbh.

Can I have my head back please andy? I was only stating a point you missed rowdy. I thought the tech could have run a low 14 last year but didn't owe well just make it better this year I guess.

14' slicks...??? arggh, so that's why your getting such good times....

p.s it's going to rain, make it another weekend Wezz and we'll go head to head, no bullshiting just straight dragging.. Winner takes all.

No bad Rich, I know you, Hally, Wezz, and Rowdy, the new enterances will scare a few this year.

No ive had my shitty winter tyres on when ive ran my 14.43, im saying im going to put the slicks on at shakeys this weekend :D

hmm well seeing as though you have around 50hp more than me i'll run the slicks, im going anyway, to pick my juicy new manifold up

sam means his N1 wont have 197bhp, will more likely be 180bhp

the n1 left the factory with 197bhp (at the flywheel) and probably got that power using jap 105ron(iirc) fuel. the engine is now 12years + old and wont have near its original power, even with 105ron. and that 197 is a flywheel horsepower, which is like 160-180 at the wheels. wasn't yours on the dyno last year after mapping your standalone to get your horsepower number? so engine wear wont have knocked much off your engine yet ;)

Andy, just to clarify this with you...

I ran the KSR intake manifold at Santa pod and went 14.4@96
I then ran the OEM intake manifold at shakeys and went 13.8@100

The car was around 200bhp, not 219.

It wasn't an optimal map when i went back to the stock intake without retuning, but it ran pretty good!

Heres the graph comparing the original 186whp setup (blue) run vs the KSR intake manifold setup that ran 14.4 at santapod (red). They made similar peak HP, but the OEM intake had a much fatter powerband, 170whp+ from 5700rpm instead of 146whp.

Come to Shakey's this weekend Andy so you can show me and Wezz how you do 13s, then your build thread can be full of mods instead of 'I'm going to get 13s, I can sense it' ;)

I reckon there will be some dryish weather though, the forecast for this weekend is the same as every day so far this week and each day it's been wet for a couple of hours then dry the rest of the day to be fair. I know track drying time is another matter though.

I cant complain for the time my 1.6 engine ran...

If the sticker in the engine bay saying 146ps is anything to go by, then I dont think its doing too bad.

Im not interested in 1/4 times with this car was a bit of fun for its first run out, Il have my fun around to actual tracks..

If Rich sorts his Autech out theres no reason that shouldnt run a low 14, I ran 14.7 in it with a broken maf and seized rear calipers.. that could probably have been low 14's that day with a different driver.

I am not interested in it being a track/ circuit/ hill climb car.
Much more money/ time and investment is needed for it to be a dedicated sprint car going round a track.

For my first time driving the tech Down the strip I think a 14.6 was good plus a slipping clutch and blowing exhaust. Thus year I will make sure it runs a low 14. Anyone that has drove the tech will even say it's more than able of it.
