updates on the n14 vvl/ nos/ lsd project

jeez well if you stop and think your dizzy rotor is now 180º out of sync, what could you do to correct that? i wonder????

maybe re-order the leads on the cap 180º ;)

i idolise him.

leave him alone you are all bitches making fun of him.

he is great and nobody can see it.

/sarcy

even white biscuit would have this up and running by now. AND have time to spare to reply to my text.

Samantha are you following me around darling? Well what can I say flattered, love you too.

Just want to say the worldwide web search button is a great thing, so may topics you can find about this swap.

Craig thanks for your help so far on the otherside.

Okay quick update.

After my fcuk up yes we make mistakes. I had 3 different distributors in front of me and cut it wrong, but also cut the wrong one. lol
I deal with accounts I am no mechanic, just learning things as I read.
Have quite enjoyed getting my hands dirty and learning great things.
Below the sr20ve and the sr20de almera dizzy I was meant to cut as a test.

Below you can see it will not sit flush without cutting the bottom leg off.

so two ways of cutting
1.

2.

72768_170223986329331_100000251918709_469488_7177462_n.jpg

I cut like this
Then smoothed it off
73844_170212602997136_100000251918709_469310_1900187_n.jpg

I managed to have it cut right so its sits flush against the head.
Thanks to my neighbour who let me use his grinder.
Put everything back together but now started to worry about timing being out.

Picture above without the vvl link up as I am going for a standalone ecu which will have vvl control.

Okay I am sure I have the plugs all in correctly 1-4 etc, dizzy on and bolted, tried to fire her up.
Nothing, turning over but still not firing up fully.
After my neighbour started playing around with the dizzy trying to adjust the head while I tried to start it on different rotaion timing settings, and it was much better felt like it was almost starting up.
Then decided to charge the battery a bit and try again, still not fully firing but it's like 90% trying to start.

So quite pleased as it was better than before.

I think the only issues it could be.

1. Needs for battery charge longer
2. Need to play around with the timing
3. Needs a new dizzy
4. Check fuel lines which I haven't really done yet.
5. Check all looms and plus are in correctly again which I haven't really done yet.

P.s noticed a hose missing section on the right hand side of the maf area, looks like a black fuel filter bottle with 2 hoses that should join to it? see picture below is is that fine as it is.

Almost there now, will get this sorted eventually.

How she looks now

Tired now so will start again in the morning or new weekend.\In no rush what so ever to have it on the road.

I will have the last laugh.

in the pics above the dizzy is at its most retarded, it won't start like that. it needs pushin towards the firewall more so it's in the middle. that *should* be around normal timing, like 15'.

If that doesnt work you need to check the fuel lines, it's easy to have them hooked up wrong. The one off the top of the fuel filter goes to the fuel rail, then the one from down low goes to the fpr.

That disconnected black cylinder is the carbon canister, you can ditch it altogether but the pipes need looping plugging.

As for having the last laugh, unless you get the Nitrous up and running, i'll eat you for breakfast

andy, what cams will you actually be runnin in this? and what exhaust?

Right tell me the following first of all...

What ECU are you using?
What LOOM are you using?
What DIZZY are you using?
What MAF are you using?

good point dave

yeh andy looking at your pics i just realised. You only fit the almera maf when you go for mapping.

You'll need the sunny one in for it to run half decent before then. should still start though

he's using

de ecu
de dizzy
mera de dizzy - fail for now
de loom

should work ok but the maf like i say should be the sunny one before mapping

Okay right now as it stands...

Almera de MAF
Almera de pigtail, the sunny pig tail wiring was just connected to the almera de pigtail plug
Sunny DE loom
Sunny DE ecu
sr20ve injectors

Double check the wiring to the MAF.

Pull the spark plugs and see if you are getting a spark to each cylinder.

fuel pipes as i said on neovvl

you'll be better with the sunny injectors and maf in before mapping

but looking at the pic on neovvl its the fuel pipes wrong way round

Well well, hope it is, cheers again Craig and dbull for your help.
Will swap the fuel pipes later.

It should then start right even if the maf and injectors are different?
Just want to hear it fire up then I will trailer it for its standalone ecu and mapping.

yeah defo fuel pipes i did this on mine swapped them and it fired into life
