VSpec's N16 DCi

Good point, as these are 310mm discs perhaps the brackets aren't DB Power kit as they are for 315mm aren't they? :/

I was going to upgrade to upgrade brakes much later, but after I went to Daz's yard to buy the collies, I fell in love with his Endless brakes seeing them in the flesh so I set out to buy them, but I had bills to pay, I then found out I could get some r33 brembos from a mate so I was going to upgrade to them, but the deal fell through as I saw a better deal on flea bay a complete package with extras (that with 4 discs too) with both calipers (front & rears was going to sell the rears to coup some cash back) start bid was £450 (I thought I would win yeah right lol) ended at £650 lost it by £40, but ah well I won this set now.

Traveled A total of of 500 miles to collect these brakes, just couldn't let them go that easily, were a right bargain considering it was the whole package, consisting of z32 calipers/pads, 4 Ebc Grooved/dimpled Vented discs (already drilled to 4x114), s13 Goodridge hoses & brackets. I've taken extra pics of the brackets, hope someone can figure out which one it is so know what I'll need to do next. I would also like some info on the 'best' option for rear brakes if someone could shed some light on that to as my rears are going.

As I advised via PM mate test fit the brakcets and calipers on the car and see where they sit. You'll probably find the calipers foul even on these 310mm discs as the kit is from an S-body (I suspect these are no DB Power kit but Greenline who seem to be the only people doing a 310mm upgrade kit). At which point get the discs turned down to 307mm.

Something to check first though, seeing as they look like they've not been used in a while the seller might have made a mistake and forgotten the size. Because it's more likely they are a DB Power kit and are actually 315mm. So measure the disc up. But even then as it's for an S-body you'll still need to turn them down to 312mm.

Cheers Ed!! :) Any opinions on what to go for on the rears bud, as I think they need to be seen to first making awful scraping sound when braking. Let me measure them up now.

For the rears source some P11 caliper carriers. Reuse your calipers and normal pads, and just swap the carrier out. This is to be used with 278mm discs (sometimes labled at 279, 277mm).

I'm 90% sure that V10 Tino carriers will work too as the Tino uses the same rear caliper as the N16 and also has 278mm rear discs.

You Don, bang on mate. Cheers

The pics is a bit fuzzy and angle confusing, is that 315mm then?

Yes it was, sorry about the horrible photo!

Edit just double checked it in better light it is actually 314mm unless my tape measure is inaccurate lol!

Ok so yeah it'll be the DB power kit. Like Liam says your calipers will be swung around so they point down (not a problem just looks a bit odd), and you'll need to turn the discs down to 312mm. That's if you want to use those brackets it came with on the N16.

Reason for this is that the kit is made for the S-body and some modifications are needed to make it work on the N16.

Thanks Ed,
What's my other options? Can I get a n16 bracket from DB..? Oh & if I do get the discs turned down will my z32 brake pads work ok..?

DB Power are looking into sorting a specific bracket for 310mm discs. They were going to after Liam reported back but seemed to have slipped their minds so I contacted them last month and they said they will test and fabricate one on a mate's P11 (same setup to work on the N16). So we shall see... so if you can wait? Else just turn down your discs. bare in mind though that once DB Power do make 310mm N16 brackets you'd need to turn down your discs again to 310mm.

By the looks of those discs though you haven't got much life left in them. Telling by the lip on them.

yes your pads will be fine as long as you don't turn the discs down too much.

Brake Whoring... 8 Discs, 2 sets of calipers, 4 Hel Brake lines, DOT 5.1 Fluid, brackets, carriers, pads etc.

Just waiting on the Tino carriers other then that everything has Arrived, Ebc dimpled grooved discs up front, p11 280x46mm Mtec drilled grooved rear dics.

The EBC brakes discs/Ebc yellow stuff pads complete with Hel braided lines right at the top were won on ebay for 99p there for the s13, the lines look abit different to the ones I won with the z32 brakes (see pic below), I wanted to fit the navy ones to the rears, is this possible..?

Damn was this a right bugger to get off, BCs C spanners failed on me (in the centre) so I used the brass lock I had & hammered the damn thing off. I'm sure they would have worked but they've been on Daz's car for years on end & properly jammed, even when hammering it cut in to the lock and a little debris came flying too.

Hel brake lines seem ok I think its just new & old style ones. Just fitted them in to each other for the he HEL of it.

If the lines are female to female they were intended for a 300ZX as there is normally a short hard pipe coming from the calipers that terminates in a male.

Just use N16 rear hoses, and the S13 conversion hoses on the front.

Leave them, or like I said to you a couple of weeks ago or whenever... contact Hel directly and ask if you can buy just the rears. They won't have a lot of stock kept aside for the N16 so most likely they make them to order anyway.
