What DONT you like about the almera?

like i said i find it far far better than a sunny with fully independant suspension and i think this was one of the problems the GTiR had on the rallys, why it didnt do greatly.

the new mustang even has a multi link rear beam setup so it cant be that bad.

i wouldnt say the 1.4 is under powered, pretty close to most 1.4s out there, its just the fact its a 1.4 in a car that weighs over a tonne. simple solution dont by a heavy car with a 1.4 engine if you want a nippy car. 1.4 almera is perfect for pootling around town with.

All this talk of rear beam suspension being shit??? The new Civic Type R is rear beam as honda found it more efficient and better suited to the cars chassis than an indepandant set up. So it cant be that bad.

people complain about it because they always assume independant rear suspsension MUST be better because its independant, our p10 isnt as stable at the back as my almera is, obviously weight, tyres etc will all play a part but cov is saying the same thing with his sunny and iv heard it said about the p11 aswell, a rear beam seem more stable which in a FWD car is ideal.

i guess if you on a curved road surface with independant rear suspension the car basically wants to follow 2 different lines of the road, with a beam i guess its more like train tracks, the system just works, sorry im rambling, trying to explain and failing miserably whups

i don't see what the fuss is about the seats... i read up on parkers too but i've never noticed anything!

sayin that i'm a bit of a short arse at 5'6 or something so i'm pretty close to the wheel at times hah... tried some rx-7 seats the other day though, and they're really uncomfortable... still want some though :D

With hindsight there were a few niggly things with my Almera.

-The seats didn't return to their position if you tilted them and the clicked them back. The seat back could have done with coming forward one more notch as well, could never quite get the right driving position.

-Visibility out of the back for reverse parallel parking, absolutely atrocious, tints probably didn't help though.

-Detatched feeling from the wheels, PAS was too overpowering, sure it's a hefty car but perhaps if the PAS did 85-90% of the work it did you would get a little more feedback from the front wheels

-As said before poo brakes, ABS seemed to kick in far too early in bone dry conditions on a couple of occasions, although saved my ass once in the wet so something to be thankful for I guess. Rear calipers appeared to be on the car for show purposes only

-The fact that every sodding bolt was put in dry from the factory, most wouldn't come out with snapping even after being heated and soaked in plusgas for a month

-Horn sounded like someone was throttling a small sheep under the bonnet, needs a big manly fog horn on there!

-Boring as hell interior. Seats might be comfy, but it's dull as ditchwater inside, give us something inspirational

-I had to rag seven shades of shit out of my GTi to get it to go anywhere. Engine is underpowered for the lardiness of the car.

That's about it for now. :)

All have been said I think...

-crap turning circle
-no boot release on boot
-mahoosive a pillars that get in the way when you pull up to roundabouts etc
-lack of aftermarket parts in UK/price of Nissan parts
-brakes could be a bit keener
-Interior is minging
-it might just be mine...but the reflections on the windscreen from the dashboard...when the sun's in front, I can hardly see out of the windscreen cause of the dashboard reflection in the windscreen
-the cack standard rear wiper and the way the paint rubs off the arms really easily!
-the b@stard of a job it is to get things off (location of oil filter and general lack of lube on things...then again they do say when there's lube there's no love ;))

think that's about it...apart from that it's great!

PS: MOT on Friday so i'll let you know if there's any more bad points then ;)
Passed with flying colours, no advisories on a car thats done 114k, I love Nissans! :D

Some of these are hard to agree with, 1155kg isn't THAT heavy surely? And the rust, thought a lot of cars rusted quickly nowadays? Some on this site seem to have been better rustpoofed than others mind you...

Dashboard reflections was a good one though, mine was cockpit shined to buggery when I got it, and yeah the reflections were annoying...

mines on of the first and had very very little rust, small bubbling on one front arch and a bit of surface rust under the sills, all easily sorted and more than acceptable for a car thats nearly 12 years old. the underseal on it was terrible though, just the odd bit here and there so everywhere that hadnt been done was full of surface rust as expected, i spent a few hours sorting that out but very very few people bother anyway so its not suprising they rust, running a hose around the arches works wonders in stopping the arch rust everyone complains about aswell, doesnt take more than a few minutes each wash, although my arches were full of dirt when i bought it, have never had any paintwork and werent rusty, makes no sense at all.

I used to hate the kangarooing on my Si when I first started driving but it doesnt happen anymore. I only notice if I let someone else drive. Their like 'wtf is up with your car!!'
I cant say much though as I haven't had much experience with many other cars so I dont have much to compare it to.

the kangarooing made me feel like a nob this morning, there is this really fit lass lives across the road and i was trying to look cool as i drove past but the kangarooing just made me look like a nipple, and she was looking thinking wtf!! :O i was gonna stop and explain but then she would think i was a even bigger nipple

HaHa!
Can someone explain what this kangarooing is all about please? Is it the clutch or something?

when your car is cold you start to drive away and it feels like your stamping on the gas then off and on and off and on really fast and you start rocking back and forward! its somthing to do with having only one sensor instead of two, somwhere or somthing, i dont know!!!
