Just recieved a quote for the ceramic coating of my manifold (inside and out) and its £150 +VAT. :( The coating is going to cost as much as the manifold itself!!

Let us know what difference the FPR makes when you adjust it Dale! it's on my list but if it makes a huge ammount of difference i might move it up the list a bit!

Reluctant to pay £150+ for a ceramic coating on the manifold as it takes me outside my £1000 budget..
I found this today, its loads cheaper and the temp resistance they are claiming seems suitable..This paint is much higher temp than any other high temp paint i have found..are they lieing or what? opinions would be appreciated. thanks

bump, what do people think then
Am i just being a tight git?

Well could you not just get the high temp paint, then save up for the coating?

Look forward to seeing the progress though mate.

Decided im going to attempt to clean my engine bay today. Its really bad. Dirt and lots of patches of rust everywhere. Its a nightmare.

Heres some old photo's ive found just to give you an idea, to be fair, you need to see it really though as these pics dont look too bad (ive noticed, my photos seem to make it look better than it really is). It looks fairly clean but you can stilll see some of the rust patches.

The BEFORE pics:

Thanks, I bought the bmc last year for £100, it came with black fexi pipe stuff.
Im now currently using one of the pipes from the shiny intercooler pipe kit i bought off ebay for £87.
I think i'll have some pipe left over when im finished if anyones interested.

That white head is looking really good. Way better than the red. How much power will the engine produce with the turbo??
Thankyou, Powerwise i cant really say, im looking to run 7psi so it wont be massive figures. i hoping for between 120bhp - 130bhp, though it might be less.
Also, I dont know what wastegate actuator is fitted to my turbo, it may have a 14psi spring. (which i cant use)
If thats the case i'll have to swap the actuator for the one off my t25 form the rover. That has a 7psi spring.
Due to the fact im using a small ball bearing turbo, im expecting very little turbo lag . This means i'll have a very usable power band.

And what made you want to turbo charge the 1.4, Why not go for the 1.6 or 2.0? If I had the money, I would love to put an SR20DET in my Si.
Did you just wanted to be original? :D

Thanks mate, much appreciated. The sleeper look will be even more enhanced when you find out where the intercooler is going ;) (its not a top mount either)

WMIC?

to answer Slick rick's Q.

I actually wanted an SRi before i bought this, i couldnt find one at the time so i bought this instead. I loved the car but soon wanted more power. At first i wanted to turbocharge it, but i didnt have the knowledge to be able to put together a conversion, so i turned to NA tuning. This idea was short lived though, just costs too much money NA to get a decent power gain for the little 1.4.

I did think about going for the 2.0 conversion but i wanted something completley different to anybody else, something unique.

The fact my brother owns a 1.3 GT starlet probaly played a key part in my decision. Its a brilliant feeling when a 1.3 keeps up with (and passes) 2.0ltr+ cars.
