Autech GTi

Sounds like a typical high port motor to me...LOL!

Sounds that way because there are no baffles inside the rocker cover.

Mine is so bad that sometimes the detonation sensor picks it up on the Power FC and the MIL flashes like crazy...LOL!

The intake manifold also doesn't help matters, but who cares...turn the stereo up more and it goes away!

Long shit day today

shifter actually feels awesome now :D crazy flex in the old rubber, all the rubber bits on my car are either perishing or perished :( but they all get replaced with (black) poly equivilents

rained from start to finish, wasnt so bad led under the car feet got wet though.....

so bit better end to the day

Gearbox oil tomorrow

Did you change the shifter bushings without removing the rear engine mount? i tried to do mine but i coulnt get it off cos it wouldnt clear the mount.

sure did it wont if you just try and un-do the 14mm nut you can see, theres two 12mm nuts on top that you need to un-do which drops the whole bar down

P1070226-1.jpg

Ive loosened them in this picture the bar has dropped down, arrows indicate where they are,
move the shifter linkage out the way make it a bit easier as its pretty tight in there, also if you can remove the whole stabilising bar its incredibly difficult to get it all bolted back together under the car once you have put the bushing in, struggled for about 2 hours under the car trying..... removed the bar and it took me 5 minutes including walking to the garage and bolting it in the vice :)

nice work sam! the first time i changed my shifter on my SRi it pissed with rain as well, came out looking like id pissed myself, wet from the waist down.

yeah my feet got pretty wet, got to get under there again at some point, the rubber boot thing under the shifter boot has perished and torn

I did try and undo those two nuts but they didnt budge, i'll have a go again sunday, try and fit my solid shifter bracket at the same time

yeah nice job sam, them bushes do look good,
do you need to remove the exhaust?

im with you on that joe, where did you get them from? :)

no need to remove the exhaust just undo the heatshield and push it back out the way :)

Il take it for a drive tomorrow and report back, feels sweet already though

feels good :)

just put some MT90 in aswell, car has started sounding like a tractor though...... :(

I use a similar set-up, but the solid alloy CS / `Custom Steel` unit from the US. Your set-up is probably better though as mine transmits so much transmission noise/vibration!

Did you ever sort out the original noise problem?

no the clutch has actually shat itself now, well atleast I hope its the clutch and not the gearbox :(

Im in bristol for the weekend man, why what you thinking?

A big white box appeared at my door monday morning at 8.10am :D

How I left it whilst asking the question about the mysterious bolt
P1070290copy.jpg

but I now have a horrible grinding/bearing type noise which is quite a racket with some whining in 3rd and 4th gear, coupled with clunks at low speed, and experienced some bucking on the motorway earlier like loss of power bucking any ideas???

Ive checked over everything 3-4 times shafts are in properly as far as I can tell.... think the diff may have lunched it :(:(
