Autech GTi

Clutch looks like the business. Feel heavy?

Autech box is different isnt it? Bitch to replace?

nice aray of top end part there pal - big spender lol
grinding noise after clutch replacment eek B15 isn't that our N16??
how is the noise off load ie on axle stands?

dd

B15 had SR20s in the early models mera red gti.

Read Sam's bloody posts. He's told us the noise Craig.

its a bit heavier than stock, nowhere near the ACT though it bites hard, when I was adjusting the cable it was pulling the car forward with the handbrake on.....

putting the clutch in stops the noise completely, its only when its underload it makes the noise, and decellerating it makes quite a racket too, coupled with the clunking at low speeds :(

sam have you torqued the hub nuts up properly, they need to be around 200nm iirc

they got to the stage where the car was moving when I was trying to tighten them with a breaker bar...... I got my mate to stand on the brake pedal whilst I did them up the first time... then went at them again with the car on the ground.. will see if I can borrow a torque wrench tomorrow and see what I get

naa Ive not driven it hard at all yet, Im giving the clutch some easy time, so theres been no real stress put on anything yet

have you checked you drive shafts for play? car jacked up again, good hand grip on the shaft and in situ try to move up/down. then rotate wheel 90* the same again and so on. play can occur in one place and not another it you know what i mean. if they've been left hanging it could of happen'd, member they are old.
just thinking out loud

but then again you said it happens at idle, car stood still?? damn it
then again does it happen stood still the grinding noise?

when you try that dude, loosen them both back off and torque them back up with the wrench, give me a text tomorrow when you are ready to do it and i'll get the exact setting for you

doesnt make any noise on idle, it silent until its moving :( reading loads of different threads Im starting to think my gearbox may have chuffed it :(

You have replaced that short bolt right?
And you torqued up the pressure plate properly?
And the Release bearing was clipped in spot on?
Joe

short bolt done this morning, PP torqued in sequence to the figures you gave me, release bearing clipped in good and proper....

feels good :)

just put some MT90 in aswell, car has started sounding like a tractor though...... :(

THIS:confused:

This was before the clutch change right?

Im presuming you re-used the MT90 again after the clutch change right?

Seems strange to me, so maybe just try some different oil.
