Chunkys Pulsar GTi

Chosing cold side now as it's cleaner but it'll be good.

Chunky, something else i learned while getting it remapped, it will boost better if you also have the idle pipe as part of the boost pipework and not the intake pipework like i did at the time. Stock gtir has it as part of the intake so if you're using that, blank it off and have it say 50cm away from the throttle on the cold side of the boost pipes.

I think I've found the main reason it's had a really late boost that doesn't seem to change....the actuator rod is loose. I'm pretty sure I preloaded it but it seems not :/

It should be half a hole over the waste gate pin then you pull it over. That would explain alot, tighten your rod up.

Yeah I must have overlooked it. But it's odd because when I put it together im sure I adjusted it as it should be :/ I'll be doing that tomorrow when it's cool. But it's a turbo off job :( lol

It's half a a GTI-R one. Because of the SBody turbo I needed to modify the actuator bracket and rod to operate as it should.

The annoying thing is that I actually have a pulsar compressor housing that would have fitted if I'd have just paid a little more attention and looked at the core properly :/

But hey its done now if it still cause me issues then I'll get another actuator and swap the housings etc over

Preloading it is a bit of a cheat but effective way of upping the boost. I did mine because it's a good 1 bar actuator but at stock it was actually closer to 9psi. I've not had chance to see what it's at now though.

Right so today I spent the day sorting the issue with the actuator preload and also my friend popped round and done a full leak check in the pipework. We found quite a few small leaks in the pipework which resulted in it not being able to hold 0.5bar of boost! Mostly just a tighten to all the clamps but it was also a reset on the compressor housing outlet gasket (with some sealant) and a change of a jubilee clip or two and it then held fine to 1.4 bar :) we didn't test over that as I won't be near that for a long time lol

This is where it was.

And this is where it needed to be!
