Emissions

Well I have my MOT soon, so I needed to get myself a Catalytic convertor

Last year after my mot I got rid of the old rusty/precat & Cat and installed straight through system

Comprimising of a 4-2-1 OBX Header, Ive blocked of the EGR completely also

So today I went to a Nissan dealer, that happend to have a Brand spanking new CAT,

retails at £447.58 inc Vat .. I paid grand total of £50 cash in hand from a Nissan dealer :thumb:

So onto Emmisions.. with 4-2-1 straight through exhaust with single Main Cat installed

Fast Idle 2500-3000 rpms

CO Level 0.05% .... Max 0.20
HC Level 160PPM ... Max 200
Lamda 1.00 .... Range 0.97-1.03

PASS

Idle 450-1500 rpms

CO Level 0.06% ... Max 0.30

Overall PASS

Im pretty dam chuffed to say the least, alot of people even RAjackson said I needed a Precat one otherwise I would fail. So thats saved me having to treck miles to pickup one and a standard manifold as I couldnt be arsed to go through removing my 4-2-1 manifold etc

So there's one for you if you run a mildy tuned GA you can pass with just a Cat

Just emissions so far, didn't want to fail spectacularly come the real MOT :lol:

depends how arsey the MOT'er is.

if it has no back seats it needs to have no back seatbelts. but if it has no back seats and no back seatbelts its a two seater, which this car isnt registered as.

should be alright though

as sam says the cast GA should make up a fair amount of the size difference

wayne i honestly think you are wrong.

the GA in comparison to the SR is TINY in physical size.

GTi weighs - 1155 kg

SRi weighs - 1085 kg

so the SRi is same spec as a GTi except the engine. so there is 70kg unaccounted for.

The SR is all aluminum and all power. Both motors are aluminum heads. They weigh almost the same

even though the sr is aluminium it is a fair bit bigger so it may actually be heavier, the ga block is about the size of a small backpack, you could literally strap it to your back lol

Well thats nice to know, one reason I quite liked GA tunning as was under the illusion is was vastly lighter setup.

Well MOT is monday, so we will see what they say. Exhaust hanger needs doing for sure, otherwise seems fine.
