This afternoon i started to take everything apart.

Drained the fluids, desconnected a lot of hoses, wires and cables.
Still a long way to go though...

I've made a small "wishlist" for building the new engine:

-SR16VE pistons & rings
-Eagle/Manley/Scat H-beam rods
-New Main- and "big end" bearings
-VE-waterpump
-VE-oilpump
-Upgraded springs and retainers
-OEM-VE/Cometic MLS-headgasket
-Mocal/Samco oilcooler
-Nistune
-Lightened flywheel
-ACT clutch
-Big fat alloy radiator
-Walbro 255lph fuelpump

heh that's a wishlist most of us would like :) though joe (shaggymaster) has a set of 16ve pistons and rings for sale, and i will also have a set of pistons and rings for sale soon, along with the ve oilpump and waterpump, and also a 16ve flywheel, which is 16kg iirc, not as light as fidanza or xtd but a good bit lighter than a stock sr20 flywheel :)

Took the engine out today!
It was a hell of a job but also much fun!
It's in the livingroom now, for an overhaul during the winter.

Good work. I think i would have been divorced if i`d put an engine in the living room!

Plans for bigger cams?

Lol building an engine in the house like a boss!

My gran told a good story of my dad spraying his motorbike in the dining room lol

I'm already divorced, so that the biggest problem out of the way!
About the cams, i'm a little bit on a budget, so i'll upgrade the springs and use my current cams for now.
I can always trow in a set of bigger cams afterwards.

Today me and me old man started taking the engine apart.
Everything went verry smooth and without strugles.
On the pics it's kinda hard to see but the inside of the head is covered in a grey metalic shit.

All horror was hidden under the bearingcaps:

I think the head is beyond repair, i hope me camshafts are still useable.
The partnr. on the cams is 1600512 so they're Catcams.
If they're scrap, i'm gonna buy some bigger Cat's, like 516 or 518.

So they werent Dutch cams but just Catcams, right?

Cams doesnt look bad. Ive used much worse JWT cams and worked really well in race cars...

Yes, just Catcams! Well, they served me just right, i was verry happy with them.
I hope i can re-use them.

This evening i took the sump off, only to find more debris:

Took it further apart today:
Mainbearings are destroyed, and so are the block, the head, the cams, the crank and the oilpump.
