Fuel filter is built in to the sender/pump assy in the tank. I wouldnt bother trying to replace it as the casing leaks when put back together and gives you all kinds of problems.

Get the rocker cover off and check the tensioner to see if the chains had it.

What will i be looking for on chain, not to sure about what ill be looking for. Ill get the rocker off tomorrow and take a pic then post it up see what you think

Hey guys will i have to remove the engine if it is the timing chain that needs replaced ?

Took the rocker cover off this morning and there is next to no side play on the chain, maybe lift up bout 3-5mm if your lucky. Phoning up my local garage in morning to get it seen as i can't figure out what's wrong with it. Even my mate from the garage is stuck so wants a better look at it

So took the car for a small spin today, just round corner and up small hill to see what she would do. Didn't lack power or anything, think it looses power when its up to temp instead so may try that after work. Next thing is I'll run outa petrol Haha

car went in the garage today, timing belt didn't come up mate says there's something electrical wrong so will find out tomorrow when i go to get the car. Gotta take it to another garage to see if they can fix it as my local doesn't do electrical side of stuff or its complex. will put up what is wrong with it tomorrow

Got car back for now, turns out there's an issue in the fuel system. Garage had a fuel pressure gauge on the car when it was playing up, pressure is fine doesn't drop or anything. So they think there's an electrical issue somewhere. Takin the car over to an auto electrician today see if they can find what's happening

Got the car back but the fault wouldn't appear at the garage so they couldn't find out what's causing it. Seems it has a intermittent fault somewhere in the fuel system, question is where ? fuel pressure if fine when the fault occurs, thinking maybe somewhere in the injectors, maybe loose wire or clogged up

So car broke down again on Thursday night exactly the same sysmtons but managed to get her started again after 5 mins or so then she drove home fine. After talking to my mate tonight we think we have figured out the problem. We think the fuel has been contaminated with water which is causing the lose of power in gear and slight sputtering. On short journeys the car is fine (like to and from work) as the fuel has time to separate from the water whilst Im at work. But take it out longer and the sysmtons appear as the fuel mixes.

Read few things online about water in fuel and alot seem to bring up tesco fuel and that happens to be where i fill up all the time. Mate thinks i should swap over to shell v-power.

Anyone else think it could be this cause the fault ?

it could be, but have a read into how tanks at petrol stations work.

everytime i've seen a car's fuel contaminated its usually been more than half the tank is water.

Thing is the sysmtons its having are the exact as you would get with water in the fuel. Dies in gear on longer journeys and when you try to start up again it dies off few seconds later, but leave it for 5 mins and it starts again bit spluttery but reps it few times and its fine again

woop finally back after the site crash :Dnot much has changed since last time. Just really the interior and wind deflectors View attachment 8266A
A pillars and the gear stick panel are also black :)

And i now have somewhere to work on the car if i need to :D awesomeness of my neighbour is allowing me to use his garage now when i need to do stuff. has everything air compressors, grinders the lot.

So maybe thinking of tackling my rust issues before winter, anyone recommend best stuff to treat rust with ? seen stuff on wheeler dealers that hardens the rust back to normal any ideas what it was ?
Did you paint the inside door panels? Thinking of spraying mine blaaaack. If so what paint did you use and what prep work?

Cheers

yea i did, i used halfords paint for some. Id give then a good clean to get all the ming off them and sand any scratched bis too. priming them would prob be good idea as sone of mine bubbled and flaked when it got hot, all of them seem fine now though. Still need to do the rear panels when weather improves but need to fix car first.

Okay cheers, are they easy to take out? I want to do the rear ones too just need to sort out a day when I'm not going to use my car.

na piss easy on front. 2 bottem screw, 1 retaining clip at side to remove, remove the handle surround just clips off, also the arm rest and window switch then there's 3 screws there you have to remove, then just pull it off (start at the bottom its easier to start) then once its free lift it up out of the window gully. Just watch the side clip you have to take out they split easy, both of mine are missing now haha
