im thinking of sleeving the SR16 90mm making it a 1.8 but it will still have an awesome rod ratio thus being better at higher revs than an SR20

Correct, the only block that fits with the GTiR gearbox is the GTiR block.
There isn't enough clearance on any of the other SR series blocks.

I wouldn.t be worried about that..
I'd be more worried about the 12mm head studs of the GTiR block..
