My QG18DE powered pulsar Q

the whp/torque figures I think come down to the correction used on the dyno. I'm not too worried about it. the car pulls hard and holds boost really well. all the way to redline. it doesnt drop off at all.
the only thing i'm a little concerned with, is full boost comes on heaps late. it doesn't reach 10psi until 3700rpm. this seems a bit odd for my turbo. i've got other things to look into.

most dyno's measure torque at the wheels and calculate from there, so god knows what kind of setting up he's done on the dyno to get way high torque numbers yet still end up with a believable bhp number?

no idea. If you look at the other dyno sheet from another n16 qg18de+t he's tuned, the other car has slightly less power than mine, but a bit more torque. it also comes on boost alot sooner tho.

iirc almerasleepers sc qg18 ended up with about 196fwhp at 7psi so like I said your hp figure is believable, just not the torque. do you have a link to the other dyno sheet? I'd also speak to him about the dyno settings as something is way off

Great whp figure dude!

But the torque is waaaay off. Even the standard one pulls 200 ftlb. Thats easily 60% up on book figures.

Mine was producing just over 170 lb/ft of torque at the wheel, so there is absolutely no way yours is making over 400 :sus: He must be using another unit of measurement ?

I've just been looking around at other mainline dyno, dyno sheets and I think torque must be calculated differently, as all the torque figures I've seen appear high.

Although is still high, could it be actually measured in newton meters rather than foot pounds?

because the qg18de has around 160Nm of torque in standard form

So your real torque value using this crude approximation could be 362Nm or 267ftlbs

mmm probably.

just went and bought new spark plugs as per my tuners recommendation. $65 for 4 LFR6A's. what a joke. I can import them from the uk for $23. if I wasnt going away tomorrow(600kms one direction), i'd have waited.

Finally started work on modifying my front end today. similar to what ed has done with his n16 almera.

first up i've repaired a crack in the bar. just need to fill in a few minor holes:

I've got alot more work to go yet, and it'll probably take me a few weeks before i get the bar to a point where i'm happy. i've hit another snag with the bonnet tho as it appears to be warped(probably why i picked it up for so cheap). does anyone know if a warped bonnet can be repaired, or will i be up for another one?

Warped how exactly? If its side to side you can give it a twist whilst on its hinges.

Front right of the bonnet is sitting about 10mm higher than the guard. I've checked the rubbers on the rad support, and the bonnet isn't even touching them.

I'll try twisting it a bit tomorrow and see how I go.
Doing all that sanding by hand is a very tedious job. Think I should invest in a palm sander or something.

Yeah get a DA sander if u can, but my best tool was the Mirka Abranet hand block sanding kit. Buy it! Soooo much better than conventional sandpaper.
