N16 DCi-R

Gearbox oil has been dripping slowly. So today I removed the driver's drive shaft and replaced the metal seal. Just as I suspected I'd put on a slightly damaged one. Cleaned up a spare one I had which looked in order and this seems to have solved it. Will check in morning.

"ECU came out and Paul worked his magic. Initial map and straight away he got 175hp and 290lbft out of the engine!!! Impressive but that was only the start. Up from 1.4 to 1.5 bar and some more tweaks to the map and we're at 192.7bhp and 320lbft torque, with 160hp at the wheels."

Been scrolling through to find answers but theres just too many damn pages!!

The above is info from your first remap, now was that with a FCD fitted or not? And what boost did you go to in order to acheive the 200+ figure? For some reason I have 1.8bar in my head, but after seeing [email protected], I think I may be wrong!

@Liam
Ok yeah, needed the FCD to get boost over 1.5bar, that being the maximum range of the MAP sensor. The FCD holds the signal from the MAP sensor and fools the ECU thinking it hasn't reached max pressure yet, until the set release point.

I meant to set mine up for 1.8bar but really this needs to be done on a dyno and not on your own going down the street heh. So I only managed something like 1.65bar? This was what it was running for the dyno run at Surrey Rolling Road that got 205bhp.

This shows BHP and boost

Cheers dude. I knew how the FCD works but for some reason I thought you could go to 1.65bar without the FCD, which would provide plenty enough power for me.

That said then I guess id may aswell get one when the boost time comes as mapping it to 1.5 is too close to limits regarding fuel cut/overboost settings. Id like to get 2bar just so I can make almost full use of the boost gauge :P

Yeah mine's mapped to 1.5 bar and the cut comes in too much, and I believe that's why I had a hard time setting it up correctly. I'm going to go back to RS Tuning and get Paul to map it to 1.4 bar and use the FCD to take it to 2 bar.

Definitely make it 2 bar, why not :D

Your figures will be interesting with the new turbo, looking forward to that! Yeah 2bar is a nice round number, plus then I can join the 2bar boost club :D

Haha

I'm looking forward to seeing what the engine can put out with standard fuel pump and injectors. It was fairly smokey at 1.65bar so there was more to be had had the FCD been set up right. I know the GT18 turbine housing is a restriction but at the same time I've seen some seriously impressive figures from the VAG lot and their GT17 turbines. Not sure how the turbine housing compares though.

Tbh fuck the maths I just want to see what it does with what I have lol

I guess it'll be 220bhp/350lft. I will be happy with 215bhp/340llbft.

After injector modification/swap it should be capable of 240bhp.

Are you not worried about the rest of the internals? What are they able to take? I'm guessing you're pretty much the only one to go all out on the YD22?
