N16 SR16VE

thanks guys, it's much appreciated

yeah as will said i'm just babying for the first few days to make sure everything is ok and settled in, then i'll start pushing it on little by little from there, but vids will be provided asap :)

i still have a few things to work out on the car, the top rad pipe is leaking water (probably as i have the nismo rad cap on) so i will replace the oem spring clip with a jubily clamp, the n16 o2 sensor seems to be incompatible with the ve ecu as the voltage scale for the o2 sensor on ecu talk with the ve ecu goes from 0.1 to 1.0V and as soon as i start the car the n16 o2 sensor goes to 1.55V and when giving throttle it goes up to 2.5 to 3V so i'm going to have to get an N15 o2 sensor, the power steering fluid that sprayed all over the engine bay is belching smoke when the engine warms up so the quicker it burns off the better, i think the passo outer cv is fookered or i have a mechanical diff and not a viscous one (i hope it is a mechanical diff, but it's most probably the cv lol), the n16 dash is still showing in mph which is a bonus but the temp sensor obviously gets a different voltage from the ve temp sensor as the needle jumps to half way as soon as the engine is started, and it was off the scale when ecu talk said the water temp was only 80ºC, and finally i have to replace the clutch slave cylinder as the one on the car is buggered as the biting point is about half an inch from the floor lol

as well as that i still have to fit the vz-r dash, but i need to find out if it can be a straight swap with a ukdm n15 gti dash so as i have a wiring diagram to work from, more bloody wiring :/

martin and paul looking forward to seeing you both again this weekend guys, so we can show the n15 owner some real cars lol

it runs with it in, i'm just stating for others that may follow my lead that the 3 pin n16 o2 sensor isn't compatable with the ve ecu :)

sr16's run better when we remember to plug all 4 injectors back in lol, but other than that little problem the run in seems to be trouble free tommorrow we are changing my driver side lower arm and then changing the n16's interior to something nicer

Does that include the issue with the O2 sensor, was the injector connected then?

The Nissan consult/ECCS sensors are not compatible with any n16/ obd2 sensors unless it's something like nps, reverse switch, psp switch which is on a on and off switch. (n16 phase 2 psp switch wont work on a ECCS ecu but the n16 phase 1 psp switch will work)

The Nissan ECCS lambda sensors are almost all the same. I'm running a r33 GTST lambda in mine which is the same

no, the o2 sensor is still incompatable, and a completely different problem to the injector coming unplugged. i'll be picking a proper era o2 sensor up from the scrappy tomorrow and swapping it over and i'll update the outcome, and also we'll be doing the other work nistro mentioned, as soon as he takes the bs7 overspray off my replacement interior :tt2:. then on sunday once it's had some reasonable time to settle in to the car and bed the clutch in etc i'll get some videos of vvl in an N16 when sleeper and kingy are down, and maybe even a limiter vid for steven, though i don't think he visits here anymore

Great effort guys, nice to hear it lives :thumb: Been away for a few days, so just catching up on the news !

On a side note, my car is running fine in dry conditions, but not sure if it's fixed in wet weather yet . . . . . Hope it's bloody dry on Sunday !

yeah here's hoping lol, will be good to have two mera's that are unique in the UK together for some pics :shades: thats if my powersteering pipe holds out till then

plus i have to go pull some skirts off the old one for kingy so it better not rain!

I have replied to your PM

also I forgotten to say I am using a P11-144 PSP Belt as the P10 pump and P11-144 pump pulleys are different

thanks Darren, much appreciated :shades: but all I can think is that the ph1 and ph2 n16's must use a different power steering pipe from the pump to the rack as the one off my ph1 would in no way connect to an SR power steering pump :/ well off scrappy hunting I go!

do you mean the one with the Banjo Bolt?

if so then when I had the P10 Power Steering Pump it just bolted on but was a slight twist as the locating pin was in a awkward position. When I found out my pump was dead I changed it for a P11-144 one I had cut the Locating Pin/the bit that sticks out off and just bolt it on. after 7k miles I have not had a problem.

yeah that's the one, but the ph1 n16 pipe has 3 pipes coming off it, iirc 2 are vacuum pipes that open a valve of some sorts and there is no provision for them on the SR, but it will be sorted today, one way or another lol

Let me know how you get on. I'm sure there are only 2 pipes

One that goes from
Reservoir>psp pump> (banjo type hose)psp switch> psp rack> return back to reservoir or something like that

the pipe that comes off the high pressure side of the pump down to the rack has three pipes coming off it, off of two outlets, one that takes the fluid to the rack, and the other one has two pipes, one that goes to the inlet mani for vacuum and one that goes to the evap cannister, but i just connected the vacuum pipe and the one that goes to the evap can together and it seems to be holding ok now :)

thanks again for the powersteering info, even though i went a different route you sent me on the right path :shades:

I'm not really sure for the reason either mate, but a best guess is overpressure relief or something, with the fact that its vacuum operated and goes to the evap can I think that's a fair guess.

here's a small teaser courtesy of almerasleeper :shades:
