N16 SR16VE

just failed it's mot but it's bugger all, binding nearside front brake, offside headlamp aim too low, and offside front shocker bolts loose where they bolt to the hub. will all be done within the hour and retested monday :shades:

sod all to be honest mate, it was all fixed within an hour of failing lol, i just have to wait till monday for the free re-test, as i was the last mot today so didn't have time to get it done and back to get it re-tested today, but no matter it will be done monday :shades:

the car is already road legal, i made an error when checking mot certificates the other month and looked at the wrong one, my mot on this one doesn't run out till the 13th of august and i've been driving it for 9 days already lol

so first ever N16VE in the UK, second N16VE hatchback in europe, Fourth/Fifth N16VE in the world (two/three in malaysia are saloons, but i can't remember if it's two or three of them over there) that we know of and the first one ever done by a hobbiest mechanic as all others were paid to be done by garages ;), quite pleased with myself to say the least, but like i said before nistro was a massive help and lots of others helped along the way with parts etc, i will post up a complete thanks list once i get some videos and pics to post along with them :)

Then why has there not been any better Videos put up then!?!?!

Hate to say this but if you failed your recent test the car is noted on the system as not road worthy. If you had a smash the system would possibly reflect this etc. So please double check just incase wouldn't want all your hard work to go down the pan.

other priorities bud, that and my nearside outer cv is fookered so i've not been pushing it much, and it was a new clutch so it needed bedding in before being fully raped lol. my replacement cv should be here monday and if things go ok sourcing a bush for nistros rear beam and we get his put back together quickly we'll get some better vids midweek :)

the car is still mot'd to the 13th of august, regardless of the fail today as all failure items have been corrected ;), and even if the car was un-roadworthy it's still a grey area as there is no mention of it in the actual legislation :) but thanks for your concern as your right i would hate to bin it now that it's just finished lol

Mad Muru - Wrong.

If a car is presented for an MOT before it's expiry and fails then it is still considered legally MOT'd under the previously issued MOT. There are no exceptions to this that I (or my Local Traffic Officer) are aware of.

Roadworthyness is effectively a different issue from MOT in their eyes.

Like I said it's what was said to my via a local garage, maybe it was there way of attempting to get works carried out sooner etc?

By the way Rich will do and my post was only to get Phil to double check etc. ;)

ok just a little update on the n16ve, i've finished the first phase of my custom airfilter surround and i've fitted my cold air feed to go with it, the cold air feed is currently under the bumper connected to the wheel arch liner, i will find a better forward facing position at a later time, because just now it's only sitting at 45º to the ground, and while it does provide cold air from there, there isn't much of a ram effect. i may consider making up some custom airboxes if there is interest in them, but i'll wait till my one is fully enclosed to the cai before deciding, also after donating my first set of uprated ht leads to nistro i got myself a set of new ht leads to fit courtesy of primera dave, anyway here's some pics.

Also a fair bit of rust on that crossmember Phil, worth sorting soon me thinks? ;)

thanks guys!

rich I fitted the leads at the same time as I finished the heatshield and while it does feel a little bit sharper in throttle response it could be placebo effect, but in theory at least colder denser air is always better, all I need to do now is make the piece that closes over the front of the shield to the cai outlet, as for the crossmember that's nothing, you should see 6in to the left lol. though that will all be cut out ans replaced soon as myself and nistro have landed a new unit, and will be up and running soon as S&M Services

here's a pic of the unit
