N16 SR20DE

No I've explained this, the difference is in the N16/P11 knuckle. They mount a little closer in than on the S**,R** and Z32. Hence why if you try and mount a Z32 caliper on the n16 with standard 280mm discs the edge of the disc will foul the inside of the caliper.

This is why DB-Power thought 310mm would work on the N16 for the 315mm bracket. But seems he over estimated how far the N16 holds the caliper in. Rather than 5mm it's more like 2-3mm.

Liam if you can measure that overhang of the pad please? Then we'll know exactly how big the discs should be and perhaps get the ones he sells for the S13 kit turned down. Either that or get DB-Power to make up some new brackets that hold the caliper straight, and work with these R34 GTT discs :) I would prefer the latter .

Liam, have you seen this? It's even got the MS Design / OEM option kit like yours!

EDIT - Phil, its not designed for these cars as such. Its basically trial and error. So what if its wrong, thats what happens when you're a guinea pig. Ill send the pics off to DB and see what he comes back with. But tbh im stuck with these discs now, im not 100% happy but ill still be running them as I just cant afford another £150+ for another trial and error set. Personally im not too sure if you'll get bigger discs under the calipers with the same brackets. Maybe the 315mm as Ed said, but it'll be very close!

I'm not having a go mate, i just dont agree with companies using paying customers as their testing base, and I think that a set of pads might be all you need to fix the pad/disc alignment issues. also this swap has been done on n16’s before so maybe a pm to the guys on the Malay n16 site to see what they used might point you in the right direction :)

Yeah I can see your point, but Dan ISNT selling this as a direct fit for the N16s, its sort of adapted and 'guessed' to certain extent. I was fully aware of this before purchasing :) Yeah im thining different pads are the solution, im going to pop over to JDM garage tomorrow or friday to compare the Z32 & R34 GTT pads. This should hopefully solve the problem.

Ill report back as and when.

Ed, i should have measured the overlap, but I didnt. I can't be arsed to refit and measure again. Ill wait until ive seen some GTT pads and then ill know if that will solve the problem. Its a lot easier to use a different pad than to machine discs ect :)

Went and looked at R34 GTT pads today. Whilst there Paul told me R32, R33 & R34 (excluding GTR) with a 4 pot brake setup all use the same pads. Any how, comparing the the R34 pads to the Z32s shows the friction material is about 2mm further from the edge, so in theory this should solve the problem of the pad overhang.

S14 pads have a smaller pad area too, Iv used them on mine, no idea if they vary from z32 though, mine are on r32 calipers too btw

Ah right, good to know! Well as we're using skyline discs I decided to try the skyline pads. I bought a set of pads for £33 so Im just waiting for the polys and ill go ahead and fit the lot

But the knuckle difference with the N16 means that still might not be perfect :/

No, it may not be perfect but its worth a shot..

Sprint, after a quick look it seems the 200SX uses the same pads as the skyline too!

I'm sure they are different, or at least s14 ones seem loads cheaper! There must be some variation as my current supposedly s14 pads overhang the disc and Iv had to file them back, I'l be changing them in a few weeks before a track day so I'l have to compare them to my new ones

Sprint, my R3* pads are mintex and were only £33 and when looking at the box it says 200SX series on the side too!
