is there a noticeable difference in temperature then? any more pictures of the front end to show how it looks overall?

Took the pics about half an hour ago, its dark as fook now, will get some on for tuesday in this thread. Looks identical to naylors though.

My temp gauge sits at half without fail. On a higher speed run (70-80 mph) the temp drops slightly below half, only slightly mind you but enough to register on the needle so it cant bad.

I may give this a bash sometime....... my water temp never got above 85C on my last track day, but the oil temp was over 100C!

Fook!

Just decided on some practical mods really ,sick and tired of serving barryboys all day with heavy plastic-layden cars thinking there rocket ships, even thinking about some lightweight rims from www.rarerims.co.uk !!

Also my guvnor has just fitted an oil cooler to his rally corsa. i can get hold of components to make a kit fairly cheap, any body got a veiw on fitting one or am i wasting my time?

Looks like a good mod! I'll be giving it a go tuesday probs!

Cheeky git!!! Mite give this a go then @ my next service. Id better get some hired help in though, cant see me fitting this with a couple of spanners and my face as leverage!!

previous owner did some strange mod on the rad fan on my sunny, 14de engine, wired the fan to a switch inside so you can have it on permanently, even after driving motorway speeds, pull up check the temp coming off the fan and its a lot cooler than when the fan runs off temp sensor. like having a belt driven old school one lol

Job done :) Since I did it the engine temp hasnt even got near half way!

Nice one kelv. Didi you use my method or did you improvise. Also ive found i get a better spray from my washer jets as they now spray the whole window rather than just the lower half!

going to have to have a look at this sometime. not sure if i like it yet, think it could look a little odd. probably looks better in the flesh. might be worth giving it a go.

if your in the colchester area on saturday my mera will be round the back of my work (Gk's on north station road) from 9 until 8. black is the best colour to do this with IMO as it doesnt immediately stand out.

in colchester all the time. mite pop round and have a look if im not busy. got bearing shells to fit this weekend. joy. then she'll be up and running again. cant wait.

Sounds like it could be a bitch! Engine out job?

no mate engine in. heard a knocking sound so had to investigate. its the bottom end bearings. bottoms all striped out already. did it at the weekend to find out what was going on. just waiting to get the parts. was a bit of a bitch as its all being done on the floor. bearing shell went on top of the other which was producing a knocking sound because of the slack. no damage has been done whatsoever. if id had left it then the crank could have become scored. then i would have been f**ked. thats why i started thinking about the det conversion. all is well though. still gonna go ahead with the conversion but early next year. just going to slowly start sourcing parts, for a big bhp mera. i'll give them chavs a run for their money.

Good shit ,would love to help out with the swap if you need some! If not come see my place of work and ill try to wangle (not used that word for a while) some money off any bits you may need.

cheers. might hold you to that. :D .what parts do you do? have you got a website? got a very handy mechanic mate who i give a hand, with a service van. got a feeling the compressors gonna be a very handy tool. going to be done on the floor again. which should be fun. shouldnt be too bad. might be able to get ramp access if i ask my girlsfriends uncle very nicely. and ive got the crane sorted already :D most importantly ive got the permission from the girlfriend!!

Bits i sell most relevant to your conversion will be, Gaskets, Scilicone hosing (SFS Performance stuff not rip-off Samco) All manner of dump vaves and hardpipe kits (We are now a Bailey main agent) Engine rebuild tools like piston ring compressors, Cifford Alarm system main dealers (CAT1 approved alarms, turbo timers, Intelligent Start-like mine :) ) My govenor is a competing rally driver so there is nothing he doesnt know about cars. And were all fairly clued up in most aspects of car maintenence and modification.

well decided to give this a go the nite,

see what it looks like in the daylight, it got dark pretty quickly, think it will look ok, it breaks up the smooth look a bit, which might look good

Looking good, my method or some other way? Cant believe ive got people trying this! I thought i was being gay at first but clearly not. Good effort.
