yeah just longer bolts and nuts,

this may be a mod that hasent to be bodged by cable ties, there's enough if them on the car already :P

I think it don't look that good mates, sorry to say!
and whats the point in makin the engine more cool, as I live in norway it's just good with a warm engine in the winter, but in the summer time i think i might give this a go.

I believe this is a easy mod, but i also think this might be over exaduated, when everybody is doing it (like the rear wiper mod :P ).

Tho it compleatelly changes the side-look of the car for shure.,

Lol, why are the filter there?
Move the filter to you'r bumper, or behind the battery, then it get's alot of fresh air.

Yeah, i know the varm air ain't good for preformance!

just thought I'd better drop this one in, as Ive had mine done for several months now, theres one thing Ive noticed, this is only for the gti peeps with induction kits, is that when it rains the water gets on the filter if you're parked up, also gets wet when you wash the car too.
Doesnt really affect me since my car lives in the garage and only really get it out when its dry, but if your going to work and left in the car park all day with heavy rain you might want to stick something over the filter to keep it dry

I`ve removed the black rubber strip on the scuttle panel where the bonnet meets it, so in theory i get a better flow of air through the engine bay. It only creates a small gap but hopefully enough to make a difference.

I was going to take that off but it needs something else to tidy it up and keep the scuttle panel on properly.
there's also a piece of rubber above the rad and below the slam panel, taking that off exposes a nice gap for cool air to flow

I just used a few blobs of PU to stick the scuttle down......yeah, removing the rubber bits on the rad increase the airflow but you get more splashes come through onto the engine when it rains.

For those with carpets still - check under them - you might find since you have done this you may have a nice wet swimming pool under it...

I removed the black rubber weather strip like Rowdy has done - however I woke up one morning after it was raining and found that my passenger footwell had turned into a lake...

I done mine on my N16 today but I did it another way by adding penny washers on the car body end (3 washers per bolt). also added 2 washers to the bonnet end

got 5 penny washers on each bolt at the moment might raise it a bit more as its not high enough I think

Damo-SRI can you tell me what size bolt & nuts I need, as I fell a trip to B&Q coming on, was there any problem with bonnet allignment went you did the mod

Cheers

Duncan

(P.S. email sent to your work addy re the NISMO sunstrip)

Just take 1 standard bolt to b&q, and get a longer one with the same thread and width.

If you tighten it up wonkey the bonnet may sit out of line a touch, so just re-adjust it after.

What kurt said, i used stainless nuts and bolts as it looks a tad nicer but other than that they are about an inch longer than standard.

Do you have to adjust the front clip?

Or is it just as simple as using some longer bolts, washers and rasing the bonnet fron the hinges?

dont need to adjust the front clip, just need longer bolts and washers in between the hinge and the bonnet

dunno if the pulsar bonnet hindge is the same, but there are these on ebay,

polished bonnet spacers

 thats might be worth it on the N14 and N15 but on the N16s you can not even see the bolts at you raise it from the body side not the bonnet side(bolts under the front wing)
I needed 4 new bolts and about 20 washers. I went to a mates metal place and found some 3-4 mm washers use them instead of the 1mm washers so I raised it by about 10-11mm using 2 thick washers about 3-4mm thick and then used another 2 1-1.5mm thick washers.
