The GTi

Looks amazing mate, I aspire to do repairs like that, more practice needed! Did you have any problems with colour match?

well it was my mate who physically done the painting but i spoke to him before i prepped and sanded it down, he said if you spray just the arch bit you will never get a correct match, but if you spray the whole pannel you can match it one-side to the door and the other side to the bonnet, andway it looks spot on i gave it a polish today and its got no fish-eye's in or any mark's etc and the reflection is true (no break-up's in the fragments of light) so im happy. Just received my throttle body off rhyd4 which is getting sent away with an inlet manifold to get ported an polished. Still waiting on all my other bits thou. Also this morning i got my AUX cable form Bass Mechanix so now my headunit and dvd player can go through my sub and amp :)

Expect alot of updates in the next two weeks, why couldn't everything come spaced out instead all at once :(

The spec is as follows:

- Hotshot Gen 6 manifold - Please note more exhaust tape is needed :P

I've been looking for one of these for what seem's like ages as they arn't made anymore, and i don't perticually rate the xs-power ones (Donot mean to offend anyone!!)

- Custom-made mandrel bent downpipe by AAS with lambda sensor relocated

As you can see their's crappy weld's all-over the hotshot one

So.........what does everyone think??

yeah mate glad to see youve got em, ill try pop through over the weekend and have a spy!

when you fitting them? asap?

Did I hear you say you wanted it to sound standard but have better performance ??
It ain't gonna sound std now and the cams will make it even louder.

Looks good :) The P2 lights make a big difference to the rear.
Awesome job on the repair btw :thumb:

yeah in theory i want it to sound standard but all the mod's i got planned i thaught the standard exhaust might strangle the gains and the power. So decided to go full wack with the madrel exhaust. At least the centre section has a silencer :)

Exhaust is on!

Well got my exhaust system on this morning. In all honesty the hotshot header's are harder to fit but they are also ALOT better. To get the header in i had to take the cross member off the bottom of the engine and take the two torque restrictors (engine mounts at front and rear) off. With cs-power ones you can just slide them in from the top, but the hotshot ones join under the block so you cant. The only problem im having so far is a little rattling noise comming from the downpipe off the cross member when it is revved over 5k. Will be sorting this on tuesday as i cant access any ramps till then :( (Garage shut for bank hol's!) Has anyone else had this problem?? Anyway it feel's a little bit pokier and im happy :)

The front pipe/sr20det de-cat and cat-back were all straight forward!!

Here's a few pictures....

The Hotshot gen6 nestled in. More exhaust wrap on its way :P

The backbox and how it sits with my bumper:
Photo-0022-1.jpg

Under 3.5k rpm its pretty damn quiet, over 4k its pretty loud, but not as loud as my last gti! My boss and misses have both said that its quieter than my last gti and doesn't sound as Over The Top so im happy :) I only really got it for the performance aspect (don't perticually like big bad-boy corsa exhaust's) Seem's to have made it nippier, alot more so than my xs-power/powerflow system on my last.... (I thaught it just made it louder tbh)

Hotshot Gen 6 header

Right well after a little research i found out that the hotshot gen6 was designed for race-cars (or what hotshot callr ace-car's) and even on their web-site they claim a little modification will be required to fit it. Anyway after fitting it yesturday i noticed a tiny little nock which was causing a few vibrations through my pedals. When i got it up on the ramp it was clear what was causing the problem!

The two point's of contact have been marked by myself with tip-ex for ease of finding them for you guys.

As stated on the hotshot web-site 1 of the manifold tubes may rattle slightly off the support beam....
Photo-0024-1.jpg

They also say the flange may tap at high rpm, which it does.....
Photo-0023-1.jpg

So my first step was to take off the support beam (2 bolts at front, 2 at the back and 1 bolt through the back mount and a nut and bolt through the front)
Photo-0025-1.jpg

** NOTE: DONOT FORGET TO SUPPORT YOUR ENGINE**

I then took a stone grinder, an angle grinder, some sandpaper, a hacksaw and some anti-rust treatment and slowly took away part of the cross-beam then once i was happy i treated it all to stop the bare metal corroding.

Now sadly i couldn't take any pictures of the finished article as my phone ran out of battery, so the other half will be up shortly....thaught this might help some-one as stated on hotshot web-site, this isn't usualy a straight forward bolt on manfiold, its supposed to be a race manifold (what ever that means??)

Sat Nav

Well when i went to test drive my now "not rattling" hotshot i went to have a look for sat nav unit's as i hate my tomtom!! Ended up getting a new one....
