The GTi

ahh right so the adapter fit's into the fuel rail and you can mount the FPR pretty much where-ever you want (unless its 1000000miles away) Iv heard some people say set them to 45psi (what they are set to standard) and some people say 50psi. what do you think mate 45psi?

Yep that's it...the adapter is the same fitting as what is on the side of the direct fit one (and original one) with a hose tail on it.

Set it to std pressure (45psi) unless you know for certain that you're running lean across the whole rev range. Don't fiddle with it without a wideband :)

yeah thanks mark for all your helpful, vastly knowledged as ever! Thanks also dale very useful picture :) I knew where the fpr was just wasn't sure on the whole 'adapter" thing as everything is in japanese! Just ordered my pipercross cold air feed with silver ram pipes, will fit everything once that comes. Bonnet has already been lifted to try and keep engine cool with the "open" type filter. Was worried about the filteration of the HKS until i done some research and found its only the 2 layer wet types that are dire, HKS themself's now only recomend them for track use in "non-dusty areas" lol.

HKS fitted

Got a spare 20mins today so decided to fit my hks induction kit. I can't belive after not knowing what the hell sort of japanese car would have the same MAF as an almera, i had roughly 0.00000001% faith that it would fit, but to my suprise, perfection! (Dont you just love it when thing's work out!!) The MAF sensor bolt's all line up, even the bracket fits

Still running off the standard Air intake, but my pipercross one with silver ram pipes should be here tomorrow!

Picture of it nicely nestled in behind my battery!

Now i have NO idea if this is all almera's or not, but the last 2 gti's iv had, as part of the battery clamp they have these stupid ugly rusty tubes (Shown in picture) Now i just went to all the trouble of importing an hks induction kit myself, and these stupid thing's were spoiling my view of it! So heres what i did, I tapped the clamp further down (As the thread's didnt go down far enough), measure to the top of my battery and chopped! Finally i used a nylon threaded locking nut to keep the nut in place. makes my battery look much cleaner and now there is a nice view into the polished/black/green induction kit!I'v left the ugly tube things in the pic to compare the diference.

As you can see from the picture how high the tubes go.....

Nismo Fuel Pressure Regulator

Got an hour free this morning to decided to fit my nismo fpr. The first thing i done was decide where to mount it. I had to make it somehwere fairly-easy to access to i can adjust it, and i wanted it in view when you opened the bonnet as its nice and shiny. As i got the universal fit one (didnt want the direct fit one as you have to bend a pipe to fit it and i donot like the idea of having to modify a brand new part.

The first job was to strip my hks filter and all air pipes off leading to the throttle body. Once this was done i removed the throttle body and then started to remove the OE fpr. Before i took any of the pipes off i took the petrol cap off to de-pressurise the system. I then fitted the nismo adapter to my fuel rail

I then needed some breeter pipe and fuel pipe as i decided to custom mount it. I then took the bracket i was attaching it to and drilled a hole for the fpr. I then connected it to adapter and put the breather pipe onto the inlet manifold. Heres a fairly close up picture of where i situated it (i want no-one copying my idea by the way :P)

As you can see its easily accesible and its in full view so i can show it off!

Heres a picture as if you just opened the engine bay, in full view sparkling its tits off, exactly what i wanted!!

So far im very happy with it, instead of my car starting to "really pull" at about 3.5-4k, it now seems to start pulling all the way from 2.5k rpm. Could be a mixture of my mod's so far not too sure any sugestions?? I also think my throttle responce has vastly improved!!

I set the fpr to 45psi initially (standard pressure) but found my car to be running a bit rubbish, so i upped the pressure to 50psi and its running sweet as a nut.

In other news my Cold Air Feed came today, its a 75mm piping with 2 silver ram ends. Will be fitting it this afternoon.

Any comment's on the fitting or location i chose would be much apreciated.

woha mate, things are coming along mint!! lol, the new filter looks similar to 1 a mate of mines got..

You gona be putting the cold feed via the foglight?? Ive been thinking of doing this aswell, so if your gona be doing it, give me a shout and I'll dee mine, still up for the painting aswell??

so whats next then??

im still waiting for 1 more item from japan but i aint saying what it is till it comes :) In other new's its a dream at the min but im pricing it up with a mate of mine to bore my gti out to 2.2 litres :) all just thaughts at the min thou. Keeping it N/A, not going turbo, and no gti kit, a sort of sleeper if you will

nice little thread goin on here

surprised that milkyway hasn't melted or fallen off by now-tasty lookin mod though

i had one of those fse powerboost valves on my last gti and didn't think it made any difference

mmmm nice

at the Rising Sun Car Show at the weekend, there was a Scooby bored out to 2.8 litres, was stripped etc and doing 1/4 in 10 sec's.. he was blagging my head about it aswell, sounds good though..

nah mate, tubro shmurbo, get the right mods in place and you'll be feeling gains, I'll have to test it out myself when I next cya :P

All looking mint Syms, want the gear knob! :D

Does the HKS induction kit give any improvement over say a K&N or PiperX one?

Looking good. I'd get the car on the rollers with a wideband though and get that fuel pressure set to give the correct ratio rather than guessing it :)

would you recommend doing that now mate?? I was going to wait till my flywheel and cams are in place then get it tuned and mapped. Get it tuned so it will only ron on 98 aswell. opinions mate??

Shaun i couldn't comment on an FSE as iv never seen one, all i can comment on is the nismo one iv jsut installed :(

The HKS one is alot better made than a Pipercross one. The MAF adapter is perfect no "fuck off big circle of steel" like on ppx ones. HKS kits come in either a 150mm diamtre or the 1 i have which is 200mm. If your interested i can give you the part number for HKS in japan but for sum UNKNOWN reason HKS usa and HKS japan use different part numbers??

glad everyone likes it, still a shit load more to do!! :)

As long as you're not running lean then you'll probably be OK to wait but you really shouldn't mess with the pressure without knowing the A/F ratios.

The FSE is a rising rate regulator 1.7:1 iirc so as the vac decreases the fuel pressure is supposed to rise quicker. The Nismo one is just an adjustable regulator so you can tweak fuel pressure to shift the whole rev range's A/F ratio.

are the FSE ones any good? From your explination, it sounds like a seperate adjustable regulator is better, like the 1 i have??
