have you measured the ports on the inlet and exhaust manifold to port match them, or are you enlarging them also and matching them to the head once its done mate?

Yes the ports have been matched to both manifolds.

The inktake manifold has been ported where it meets the head (meaning i need to modify the intake manifold gasket slightly).

The exhaust ports have been enlarged to the maximum the gaskets will allow (without modifying the gasket) which is 3mm, I didnt go any bigger because the exhaust flanges for the manifold i had made up were made using the exhaust gasket as a template, so the exhaust manifold is already done for me..

I think you need to switch macro on your camera. That will stop the close up's being blurry.

Thanks mate, sorry about the pic quality..i'll give that macro a try if i can figure it out..

Wohoo!

Turbo manifold has arrived back from its coating. Pics to follow.

Also a bit of bad news, worked from 3pm till 12.45am last night to try and finish the cylinder head so i could fit it this weekend.
Well, the head is all ported and polished now, and we started putting it all back together only to find i am missing one washer(shim that sits on the bottom of the valve spring on the cylinder head surface) so im really annoyed. I will have to get hold of a replacement shim before i can put it back together.
Oh well, looks like the head will have to go on next weekend. :(

this is awesome mate, glad it all going well for you. Post up some vids when its all done! (no rush tho lol I know these things take time to do properly). I've got a complete ga14de in my garage its really tempting to do something with it as its only done 38k!

p.s. you seen my thread in members rides?, those wheels are actually on my car now!

Thanks mate, deffo getting some vids up when its finished.
Hopefully get it on the rolling road too so i can post the graph up on here..

just had a look at your thread, car is looking good, nice to see those wheels again too.

the plan is to fit it all up over the witsun holiday..so be done in about 7-14 days i reckon.

Thanks guys

looks good man! got any petrol atall? lol

lol nope, im having such a bad month for money due to trying to get the car finished, im down to 'nearly' no petrol (due to caining it around trying to keep up with my friends new clio 1.8 16v, and enjoying my new APEXi), and fags have been substituted for roll-ups in an attempt to save a few a extra quid.
Get paid next week though so, i'll cope..

Just need the oil lines now, to be able to have it running. Will be quite loud to start with..
and then a stainless down pipe made up once its running, as i need to drive it to the exhaust place to have it done :)

i take it the apexi neo is going to control your fueling etc?

Yeah, just the apexi NEO and adjustable FPR are the only fuel system upgrades.
Im using the 1.6 fuel rail and injectors, but tbh i think they are the same as the 1.4...

Well, the cylinder head is now finished and ready to fit. We managed to locate the misssing part (shim), and put it all back together yesterday.

We have also done some work on the intake manifold and Throttle Housing.

The intake manifold has been polished up and port matched to the head as best as possible.

Finally, the Throttle Housing has been mildly ported where possible (but not by the throttle plate) and polished to a shiny smooth finish. Any sharp edges etc removed.

cant wait to see what difference the head makes, are you driving it before the turbo goes on?

got a head that can go on my SRi because lets face it 100bhp from a 1.6 sucks.

hurry up with the pics dale!!! lol

well, i will drive it when its driveable! cant wait! The car ran sweet for a couple of minutes, then it decided to piss out all its oil onto the garage floor. The crankshaft oil seal has gone. Its my fault because i didnt replace it with a new one. Just waiting for the new seal now.

My car is looking a bit sorry for its self at the moment..covered in oil and a bit scarred from the work carried out. It was a right bitch of a job.

The new oil seal is in now, and the car is running sweet. (..well almost - occasional steering belt squeal, needs sorting)

Car feels a bit perkier, nothing drastic though. Seems to have lost some torque though (expected) , but pulls better from 4-7K rpm.

I was going to put some pics up, but to be honest theres no point, it all looks the same as it used to!

Next update should be turbo'd ness (unless i break something).
