Autech Pulsar GTi

Sweet as Dale!! I really didn't think that brace would go over there but it did.

This car just gets better and better..

awesome bwoi, going for a re-tune?

Awesome.
As mentioned, are you gonna get a remap??
Bang some 16VE pistons in first! Lol
Joe

This is my dilemma, as it really needs higher comp. (thinks to self, why didnt i just fit higher comp pistons when i had the head off?!)

I guess now that i have fitted the mani, i will be getting it re-tuned..it needs it.

Before it gets remapped i will be fitting my full set of UR pulleys and degreeing the cams to JWT settings...i will also shorten the header primaries to match the intake spec.

Will have to get the Dastek rev limit module fitted on the mapping sesh too.

Higher comp remains on the to do list, but being arsed to do it is another thing completely.

Awesome! This and the planned mods before the next map should net some nice gains!

Just needs a breather filter on the rocker cover

and a rad cap. looks the part and does make perfect sense, more air more fuel more powerz. brave to chop the header tho boss, rated to for 9k damn.

Joe, thats a mighty fine offer, thankyou...but aside from the cost aspect its having the motivation to do it, which i seem to be struggling with lately.

If i were to take them off you, i wouldnt consider fitting them till late this year and even then i dont know what my finances are going to look like.

Id still like to hit 200whp on the stock bottom end.

186whp, and with the addition of the full pulley set (supposedly 5-6whp) would put me at 191/2whp...then with the intake and a bit of cam gear tweaking, i think 200whp is on the cards.

Im looking at about £200 for another mapping session for my current setup which is manageable for my wallet! OR £600 for for the bottom end build up with mapping which means many boring months of trying to save money!

I think its the constant saving money aspect of modifying cars that has made me loose motivation in general.

On that note, im going to decline your kind offer and just enjoy what ive got.
If i ever come into a bit of money or get a better paying job, things will be very different.

thats what killed my love for the gti always saving for new better parts and leaving it off the road.
get it mapped and enjoy it over the summer dude

Brilliant mod dale and it looks great! Id like to see 200whp from current bottom end, give you a specific goal to aim for without ripping the engine apart. I hate to see people lose the love through building constantly. Tweak it, map it, enjoy it on track this year. Should be epic!!

I've been thinking a similar thing recently Dale, once the usual bolt ons are done, a build usually always requires mapping soon after and a load of 'matter of course' replacing of parts whilst doing a build, so its so much more money for the similar gains as you get from the initial bolt ons, if you get me?

I know what you mean, but Ive never really done 'bolt ons' to be honest!

The TSi was a big part of the 'money thing' though, i poured thousands into that and years of saving...now im potentially faced with it all again.

I dont earn enough to be able to do it, makes day to day life pretty boring if you're always skint.

Yeah I suppose you do big bolt ins. I'm sure you will keep the car for years and years so the opportunity will come for a bigger project later Im sure!

Another busy day,

Finally cracked out the degree wheel to try get my cams dialled in properly. Due to the headskim and my cam gear setting they werent set up right.

JWT's spec card lists them ground as:

Intake 115 lobe centre,
Exhaust 109 lobe centre
112LSA

I got
Intake 115 Lobe centre
Exhaust 94 lobe centre
104.5LSA

Ive now set them to:
110 Intake L/C
104 exhaust L/C
107 LSA

I also fitted my U/R crank and water pump pulley whilst i was there..

One test drive later (fetching beer, ha) after cam setup = the best mod ive done to the car since the headswap.

sweet ride sounds lush keep up the good work mate
p.s really close call with that kid haha he should be honourd by what he nearly got squashed by lmao
