Eddie's SRi

How much to cutt ad section of the boot floor out and weld in a new one? I could replace boot-lid easily enough myself.. lights are intact and so its plate surround lol! Its the tyrewell thats crumped and absorbed impact quite well!

Reweld the whole back of the car on?! A lot I would guess, and it would be quite a skill to do that too. I would say might as well buy another shell.

do you really love the car that much??

dont think its a good idea to start fixing, will cost you more in the long run ... plus, the whole chassis will need aligning, and you will find problems later
i seriously doubt a new boot will go on, without some serious hammering

Steve

He says hes got a stiff neck and lower back pain i said get down to a and e as if it whiplash its just gunna get worse i know mine is still bad and ive got to go back to physio

Laser tracking could give me an indication as to if the rear chasis is contorted, The rear bootwell & floor could be cut out completely then the remaining wall straightened out and a single flat piece of steel could be welded in its place.

Even if it was £500 to do I think id get it done, anymore then that I guess Ill have to have a think about how much I value this car as a stella shell to build on? If not then perhaps lookout for a mint GTi!

put a claim for wiplash in mate, that will net 2k ;)

Steve

ps. obviously im joking, unless your really hurt, that would be fraud

Does she want to go through the insurance or could you settle it without going through them? Just thinkin you could get a lump sum payment from her to cover some repair work, then you could keep all your mods and not worry. Go to hospital and check about the whiplash though m8, as you could get compensation for it.

Its a shame that.. Really is

Like others have been saying, Get your mods off there. Lights, Plate Surround, Wheels, Bumpers etc etc.. Oh, also, as ross was saying about de-cat and road legal etc, would you only having the front 2 seats be an issue aswell?

All mods declared, paying through the nose for it mind! But should I be stipping the car of my valubles before the assessor comes wont he freak out if he comes to find a naked shell?

Just had new discs all around new restuff pads and braided hoses that would want putting on a new GTi

Also my coilovers, rest is visual like alloys, lucino grill/vzr rears. Rest its gona be found on the GTi

The force she hit me at was something else, If i didnt have a CG-Lock I would of defiantly hit the steering wheel!

i took the liberty of drawing you a picture to explain why this isnt the case.

i hope you understand

have you mentioned each and everything though

you can replace lights with standard ones.

Plate surround with standard ones

if you still got your old discs/pads wack em on.

OR leave everything as is.. and then get the car back on salvage from the insurance comp. for 10% of what they pay you.. then you got your shell and everything! :)

Damn sorry to hear about this Eddie, especially after all the work you've been planning and doing recently :(

I'd wait for the car to be assessed but MAKE SURE they allow you the option of buying it back as apparently some insurance companies don't give you that option anymore.

Put your old pads and discs on.

If the mods are declared they'll be looking for them I would expect. Rear lights and body kit is standard parts though so you may get away with that. Else buy the car back for cheap and get another shell with the rest of the money then swap it all over :).
