i believe that if the accident is other persons fault you can demand the car to be repaired and they have to do it. cant remember where i read it tho :( sorry to hear about it mate you spent so much time and efoort and money on it. get ya back sorted asap mate but gunna hurt like fuck for weeks. leave mods on till they assessed it tho, take um odd before and insurance becomes invalid. mine was gunna cost 1100 to fix and that was door and wing so that im guessing will cost 2000 plus.
 
I had a bit of an accident in my old gti feb 2009... and the insurance wrote my car off.. saying it would be 2,000 to fix.. (insurance quotes to repair they go to nissan and price brand new genuine parts) i bought my car back... and fixed it myself... didn't cost any near there figure...

I think once they see the car is over 8 years old... they give you a stupid cost to repair so you just take the money of WHAT they estimate the value...

Don't be bullied by them... get repair qoutes yourself and source used parts...

As for the mods, if you can get to the car yourself and get them off yourself then it makes things easier. As far as I know, so long as you've not yet received a payment for the car, you can remove any mods you want to keep, but make sure you inform the insurance company of your intentions as it may affect how much they pay out. Also covers you later if they turn round and say you took them off AFTER being paid, i.e. stole them, or that they were never there and your insurance would therefore be invalid. I wrang Adrian flux they tell me my legal team can help me with advice, get call from 'help hire' ... they given me a rental car but have no legal advice to give. They recommend speaking to the 'Acorn Engineer'

Am i within my right to take off everything of value such as alloys, coilovers etc before he arrives?
 
As the advice given to you says, best to confirm that with the insurance company first.

Adrian flux say they know fuck all so Im directed to 'helphire' apparently my legal cover and they will be able to advise my on my policy details. But there helphire a rental car firm WTF?!

Such a shame to see it like that!

Did you have an agreed value on it? My first car was a 1984 MG Metro Turbo, which i spent about £1500 doing up, but the book value was £50! Got an agreed value as of the work that was done to it. Only had to send in photos and prove i was in a car club.

When i owned the Almera i had all the mods declared with Adrian Flux too. Cost about an extra £250 a year to insure, but worth it as without declaring you may aswell not have insurance!

Hopefully it'll work out for the best with it. If i had the space, or time, i'd offer to buy it back and spend time doing it up, but alas i have neither of those :(

Mate just take off the stuff, show the inspector what you'ved removed. He can amend assessment accordingly.
As long as as you show him, they should be able to work it out. If don't you run the chance that they can't be bothered and you loose out.
 
iirc kelv had his inner arches replaced on his N14 for 5-600 quid and it was just because they were rusty, no crash damage, garage said if they did another one they charge alot more.

seriously prepare yourself for write off, take parts off, have your payout, weigh the car in and look for a new one.

i crashed my esteem 5 years ago with less damage and that was a write off. not only have you got the repair costs to think about its the cars whoel alignment to check after and thats why i never repaired the car, simply wasnt worth it.
 
Well after doing some research myself the cost of new bootfloor/end panel is £420 inc Vat ... labour for cutting and fitting bending bashing resculpting is going to be £500 easy.

Costing well over a grand to fix... in short this is an end to this Almera's life

Still amazed at that rear bumper and it's lack of damage when you look at the chassis damage.

Not to worry mate, save the mods, new shell, all will be happy in telly eddie tubby land again :).
 
Who sells bootfloor and end panels? Didn't think that would be a part you could replace. Thought would be more than £500 tbh, can't imagine alot of bodyshops wanting that work imo!

Whats happening with insurance so far?

Boots jammed shut, and the last two bolts holding the inner's in arent in reach/hidden. Ill work something out!




Lights/Plate surround all unharmed btw Sam :sorcerer:
