N15 GTi Track Car

zactly mr bainbridge

going on the figures you got on a dyno dynamics, and what i did ian - you got what 165whp? i got 174....i'd put that down to the 4-1 header and 3inch exhaust. But i'd also bet my arse your torque curve was much broader, flatter and better, my ve was all top end cos of the exhaust system. Depends what floats yer boat i spose.

It's being a right pain getting the all-in-one cat back off!
I'm going to have to drop the rear beam to get the clearance now.....whilst it's off i'm fitting the poly trailing arm bushes...ermm should i leave the whiteline rear bar off?

Nothing major craig....just use and abuse!.......maybe a few weight saving items ie remove the inner skin off the bonnet, and hopefully doing 1or 2 track days this year.

Cool, sounds like a plan! What's your estimation on the weight? Let me know when your thinking of doing a track day and I'll book up too! What tyres do you run?

I'd like to get mine weighed but not sure where to get it done. Might start concentrating on improving the aero too now.

:)

It was corner weighted at 974kgs.....i did lose at bit more off it.....and the abs pump which james removed, it has also gained the PAS pump back though. I know a few public weigh bridges near me we could use.

I'm guessing around 965kgs.

I run Kumho ku31s which have a good price/grip/wear ratio.

Cool, would be nice to visit a weigh bridge. I've got extra weight savings too, such as almost no sills remaining and various sheared bolts! :)

How do you find the Kumho's on track? I ran A048's front and R1R's rear in the dry but still felt the fronts going off after a few laps..

Just a quickie update.

I've fitted some rear beam poly bushes and ditched the rear whiteline ARB as it felt so good with just the bushes. I also think that there is very little lateral movement in the rear beam due to the way it fixed to the chassis.

Chasing a phantom noise i eventually found the front disc heatshield catching on the inside of the disc, a knackered rear wheel bearing, loose driveshaft nut and some shagged rear pads. All good now and ready for its MOT in a few days.

I wondered why James removed the oil cooler/sandwich plate, but i noticed when i tried to re-instal it that the new non-abs master cylinder and brake pipe routing fouls on the sandwich plate. It's impossible to fit it. The only possible way would be using an oil filter relocation kit.

My next job is fitting some new gauges.

Plans: track day in June and some 1/4 mile racing. 13s here i come! lol.
No more engine mods just yet.

The car feels awesome. I like having the PAS back and the brakes feel sharper, and more responsive with the complete ABS removal. The new exhaust sounds epic!

The interior has been touched up nicely with the addition of the alu paneling.

I get some pics up when the weather improves.

Ive got a non ABS MC sat in the garage, Just wish I was able to get it all out when I had the engine out....

I have another plan though..

Oh I know its dooable, but there is hardly any space in the Bay the N1 inlet is HUGE and very tight to the firewall
