N15 GTi Track Car

you would think so yeh, but think how big the n1 maf is on a 1.6. And the q45 maf and bigger intakes have shown some decent gains on ve's in the states. Might be worth a go.

lulz, cock. Yeh i wasn't being funny obv it seems like overkill - but as i said a fair few big power ve's have shown good results with them. It might be overkill but that doesn't mean it would be detrimental in any way or indeed might actually give a gain.

we remember the old 3inch exhuast is too big for 2litre n/a saga, that started off as 2.5inch is overkill :p

looking really tidy Ian! the trimmed down loom and closed in quarters look great too! Would love a passenger ride in this one day!

A gti maf has a range of 1 to 5 volts, at a peak hp of 250hp. So at 200hp you are using it at 80% range.

A Q45 maf has a range of 1 to 5 volts, at a peak hp of 450hp. 200hp is only utilising 40% of the range.

Its resolution, why would you use 700cc injectors on a build that only needs 200cc's. Because you lose the fine tuning ability in exchange for more volume.

Bigger chamber + low range maf = win. All that means is manipulating the k constant on the map till you get your range right

yeh so a gti maf in the larger chamber would be spot on. But i still don't think the q45 is gonna be detrimental and is a cheap/easy way of achieving the bigger chamber thing. Like i say its worked on plenty of ve's so its not gonna harm anything.

Again though probably is overkill and worth very little ultimately, but its not the same as the injector argument/fine tuning thing.

meh its a nice lookin IM with the option of using the bigger maf, more simple than messing about puttin the gti maf into a larger chamber it wasn't designed to go in.

Easy way to test would be someone with nistune. Changing the maf is a drop down menu.

I was gonna use a q45 if i went itb.

Who knows. Only people with the means to test it were me and hally

if it was gonna make any gains i would think it would only be worth it in a big power engine, flowing very well with a proper shit hot header and maybe even worked head/IM. Its not like the gti maf is small like a highport one is it! lol

Correct. The gti maf alone made power on the autech unmapped

Trackmera was dusted off, taxed and MOTd ready for a track day at Mallory last week. Car was faultless as ever.
I was just left wanting a bit more grip after toying with a few other cars which either had slicks or road legal slicks.
I'm thinking of the Kumho KU36 XS which is an `extreme street` tyre, not a proper semi.....but £85 a corner..they've had some good reviews too. AD08 which dont seem to pricey and wear fairly well? R888 dont appear to last very long.

I'm also pondering fitting some stiffer front springs ?10kg and swapping the current 8kgs to the rear.

Honestly quite supprised your still running this car on normal tyres, R888's don't last long as they only come with 5.5mm of tread new where as Yokohama AD08's come with 7.6/8mm of tread new like other road legal tyres. The other factor is 180 treadwear vs 100 treadwear on the R888 tyre.

Whats your current spring setup 8/7 or 8/6?

I done about 4 days on my R888s....and Shaggy has done abit of hard driving since. They had loads left when I sold them.

Never used them on the road though. Except for one trip to JAE.

I run r888s on the road they last just fine.

Gonna be running a048s when the toyos are done I can get lots of second hand ones from the itcc guys.

I find lots of used A048's appear on ebay in 225 45 16 and 195 50 16 sizes as they are rear and front respective tyre sizes for Exiges, they only have 4.8mm tread new and are too soft for my car doing loads of road miles as well as trackdays, but might be worth bearing in mind for yours Ian?
