N15 GTi Track Car

only way to drill the 1.4 airbox and get filtered air is to drill the bottom of the box, heat soakkkkkkk

edit - think i know what you meant now phil lol

sorry for the hijack

Nice one bud, hope the mod doesn't dissapoint.

You need to get the filter out of the engine bay though...it really makes that much of a difference, trust me!

Like so...

This is one mod I can swear by. Honestly, it's a must!

Cheers

not a problem, i had mine behind my bumper for a year, just gotta watch out for big puddles and dont go through as a car wash as i did once without thinking, filter was soaking lol

Went to see Jez at H-Dev for an ECU re-map. He`s a great guy and really knows his stuff! We live mapped the car on the road for a couple of hours getting the fueling and ignition timing spot on....also upped the redline a little to 7300rpm.

The standard injectors were only maxing at 75% duty cycle at 3.5bar. Nissan rate injectors at 2.5bar, not the industry standard 3bar, so the GTi 259cc injector are actually more than 320cc........so they dont need changing for a N/A appilcation and not even for a mild turbo conversion.

Didn`t get much chance to `test` the car on the way home during rush hour motorway traffic, but it pulled better on a few sliproads ;)

No more engine mods for me, just some more weight saving and suspension/steering tweaks......oh and a dyno run some time.

awesome mate.

more weight saving?? what you gonna do cut the roof off?

don't think that'd do much for the handling :P

carbon bonnet ftw! wheels?

yeah carbon bonnet's a good one.

rowdy, you've inspired me - gonna lose some from mine, not extreme but from your weight saving thread i figure i can lose a good 50 odd kilos easy. gotta be worth doin.

where was the sunroof blanking plate from?

awesome ian, will be interesting to see the numbers, does it drive better though, as we all know numbers dont mean anything really, its how it drives.

craig get it done dude, weight saving is free horsepower, you have seen what my car has done with just breathing mods and stripping 150kg out of it, there will be a bit more coming out for this summer to go with the VE :D

150?? jesus, where did that all come from? has your members ride thread got the strip details in it?

nope lol.

sorry to hijack ian...

air con out
carpets out
rear seats
sound deadening
all rear plastics
coilovers
lighter wheels

basically its just the dash and 2 front seats but i took the passenger one out when i raced it

yeah soz for hi-jack!

well my aircon's already gone
coilys-done
wheels-done
sound deadening will go soon
exhaust loses a bit
thinking of sunroof, battery, maybe carpet, spare & tools
:D

still doesn't seem like 150kg going on rowdy's caclulations, but clearly enough to make a decent difference!

nice one ian, sounds good :) id love to catch another ride out in this one day to see the difference as in all honesty we know my aoc whore is pretty well sorted. not to say mine might be anywhere near as its not, but just to see how similar, or dissimilar mine is against it.

Would be my pleasure Tommo.

It seemed to respond and pull quicker, even a little bit more with just the new HKS filter.....i even managed 40mpg on the round trip!

Lighter, as maybe fit a CF bonnet ( if they ever get made ) and maybe plastic rear windows.

I`m not expecting massive power gains from the ECU, but it would be nice to see 170whp ish with this, and my other rescent mods. To reach the elusive 200hp@the crank would be awesome.

Glad i`ve inspired a few people, all i`ve done is realise, and release the n15s and the Sr20s potential.

Would a B14 carbon bonnet fit? looks pretty similar, the only difference i can spot is that it doesnt dip down after the lights, it runs straight across, not a major problem though. Depends if its the right measurements though.
