N15 GTi Track Car

Do you use adjustable cam gears to adjust the powerband, or do you prefer it in the topend?

Yes, but dialed to OE spec. When i`m driving the car `properly` its never below 4.5K anyway........so i dont really need low end power.....although it doesn`t appear to lack it.

the same as syms old gen 6 iirc.

its slightly diferent matey

the one rowdy has is a 4-2-1 design, (like an ssac)
the gen 6 is a 4-1 manifold (better for big power gain's)

gen6 is probably a little bit better as its designed better, but probably only fractionally. But seing as you can't buy them from anywhere anymore, it doesn't really matter.

Anyone interested in reading up on the gen6 here is the official website:

Look's like a lovely header though, the quality is really good! Up there with the best quality wise!

syms :)

Thanks.
Good to see a comaprison between the Gen5 and gen6 .....gives me a good idea of my possible gains. Charles on sr20forum states the Fuji makes a couple more ponies than the gen6 ( on a VE ).

Purchased a HKS filter off ebay really cheap. The kit`s designed for the P11 GT....only cost my £15 + £15 for a new element....bargain! ( new retail for £130ish )

Also getting my injectors ultrasonically cleaned. I toyed with the idea of slightly bigger ones but decided to keep the 259cc, but get the cleaned so they`re running 100%. Only costing £42 as well...........http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI....m=380072659398&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT&ih=025

....... and they`re fairly simple to remove once the throttle chamber and body are removed.

Out with the old ones:

Should be getting the clean ones back soon, then off for a ECU re-map in the new year

Thanks mate.

My last dyno was 158.1 whp which is about 185hp@crank. I`ve added a few things like the Fujutsubo header, electric water pump, alloy alternator pully and removed the PAS since then. Those mods may have added approx 5whp and the ecu re-map may add another 5whp.....so i`ll hopefully be close to [email protected] dont like to guess though or i`ll just be dissapointed.

Thats true mate its better to guess a bit low. A question you might know. I bought Syms GTI in July and bought Perry's Autech last week and was thinking of putting the dastek oin the Autech, would i need to get the cams etc setup again on the GTI?

Sorry for spamming

Impressive motor Rowdy, inspiration to us all.

I am after removing the aircon on my GTi, did you use a shorter alternator belt? If so can i have some details/part number etc?

Cheers.

You can get one for the Non Aircon GTi from Frauds. Or I just wrapped a piece of string round the Alt and Crank then measured it and got a Gates one from motor factors....replaced the crank/wp/ps while I was there.

Ian, was there any reason fro going to a HKS or just a change? Im changing to a big open filter as this enclosed bmc is just way too small.

That filter was a BARGAIN! Syms used one of those and his results weren't shabby!!

The injector cleaning got me thinking, Ive got some standard gti injectors that are brand new, never been used. Might be a shout putting them in the blue one, i wonder if after 113,000 miles some new injectors will be noticeable?

Wow so it's drilled box or HKS they rate. Defo a bargain there then Ian :) Nice if they'd compared enclosed filters in the same test though, like the BMC CDA.
