aw bugger, i thought id seen them on an n16 before but i was sure yours were the type c's lol

heh rich they aren't even here yet lol, and I honestly don't know if I'll run them as dailys or keep them as track day wheels as they are only 16's

... --- ...

The gold/bronze set on the car now are Type C's mate

---------- Post added at 13:48 ---------- Previous post was at 13:48 ----------

16" is good. They're VERY light too.

yeah that's what was confusing me, i could only remember seeing the six spoke type c's on your car, and i just couldnt remember where i saw the five spokes but now I remember and they do look good! they are sexy wheels no doubt and very light too, plus the ones ive bought are 7j fronts and 8j rears, both et +38 so with a little spacer they should sit very nice

... --- ...

They will indeed :). 5mm spacers on the font it's spot on. But might need rear aches rolled if you put 5mm on the rear with lowness.

nice one, thanks for the info!, willie has the arch roller and the fronts and rears were going to be done at some point, but this will just bring it forward a little :)

bit of a bargain @£260 delivered with 6mm+tread on all tyres ;)

ok so to recap, a box of these

2011-11-25193214.jpg

and one of these which was fully de-rusted then painted in hammerite, then had poly bushes fitted, along with some fully refurbed calipers hung with p11 caliper mounts to clear the p11 279mm rear discs, and an adjustable scott russel link

when fitting the the rear shocks i took some time to add fresh underseal just for a bit of extra protection, but thankfully the shell is very fresh on this one!

IMG_20120214_171954.jpg

the strut strengthening plates needed some modification to allow on car adjustment, so a small access hole was cut like so

IMG_20120214_174424.jpg

i then cut a small flap in the boot carpet that i can fold back to adjust the shocks,

IMG_20120329_165312.jpg

and when folded back in place it's hard to notice it's there :)

IMG_20120329_165259.jpg

so with the rears done it was time for the fronts. i got brand new front arms as the balljoints were getting a little tired on the existing ones, and i fitted poly bushes to those to

and then fitted them up to the car

which takes us to now, unfortunately due too the chunky tyres on the ssr's i can't get it as low as i want (even after rolling the arches!) so it's still sitting a little high, the suprising thing is how well it handles as is, and the fact that it can only get better with proper sized tyres and some more low makes me very happy :)

please ignore the dirt, it is winter after all, and i've had a busy few weeks ;)

just a little update this time, i removed the standard seats and trim to give the car a proper spring clean, check the filth!

IMG_20120329_135953.jpg

then i replaced it all with an interior from a sport+ that i bought a while back, though you can't tell it's sport+ seats because they are covered up by an £8 set of aldi seat covers to protect the sport+ seats from the dirt off the dog lol

there are more updates to come soon, including being able to fit my nemu setup quicker than i thought i would, this is possible now as i finally found the relevant fuel and ignition map info inside the bin file i copied from my 16ve ecu, this means i can fit the nemu now with the stock 16ve maps loaded and work on fueling, timing and cam swap rpm's right away with no worries of having to start from unsuitable maps, this will speed my project along as now i wont have to wait till i fit my stroked bottom end to start learning to use nemu (as i was originally going to fit it along with the stroked bottom end and start with the stock 20ve maps). as well as that there are some performance bits and other upgrades coming soon :D

Liking the seat covers over the standard pattern on the sport seats, may invest in a set, do they fit well or are they easily loosened and become saggy in places?

Great progress mate!! Keep it up. Mee's loving the small flap in the boot carpet, very neat & discreet. (wow that rhymes lol).

thanks guys, rich i've only just fitted the covers and yeah if you take your time while fitting them they fit really well, i'll get better pics tomorrow to let you see, the only downside is that the headrest covers are about 1/2" too short for the front headrests so they have a little of the stock colour showing through at the rear bottom of the headrest, and that i will need to work something out for the rear seatbelt buckles cause as you know they come up through the rear bench and not up the gap between the backrest and bench and these covers have no provision for that, but for a £8 set of seat covers i can't really moan lol. i'll get back to you on the sagging but feeling how elastic the material is i don't forsee it being a problem :)

yeah we had planned on finishing up the abs removal and starting dropping the qg15 in but whilst willie was removing the engine brace the crossmember decided it wasn't playing ball

heh while that's his usual MO it wasn't that this time, unfortunately the threaded part that the engine support bolt goes into detached from the crossmember due to the welds rusting away, and whilst dealing with that the rest of it crumbled away lol

well with my project kinda stalled waiting on a couple of things to happen I thought i'd post up some details of where it's at and where it's heading :)

the suspension/handling is now fully sorted sorted bar deciding where/how i'm fitting an n15 rear strut brace, and if i'm going to fit the sport+ front arb I got from liam. the rear brakes are now sorted with the prim 280mm setup, and for the fronts I was planning on mounting the sumitomo 4 pots at a distance to use 295mm r33 discs it turns out that there isn't space to do this, so it looks like it will have to use brackets to space them for r34 310mm discs, or use the stock n16 mounting holes and n16 abs 280mm discs cut down to 276mm instead, but I've still to decide which way to go :/.

for the exhaust i'm getting a modified b18 tri-y from dale, and when that arrives i'll be taking a trip down edinburgh way to see custom Billy (as recommend by both r&r and stevenc) for either a 2.75 or 3" custom mandrel bent catback mated up to the tri-y with the 3" decat in the pics.

for the engine I have a 20ve block, sumps and oilpump/chain cover, along with a 4cw 20de crank, rods and girdle. while I had planned on using the pictured 16ve pistons machined down a little to take the comp ratio down a bit and sticking to a 2 litre build along with using almerasleepers old supercharger for a low boost f/i setup, but when that was deemed unsuitable for a high power 2 litre engine I had no option but to change my plans, so now i will be going to an 88mm bore 2.1 litre n/a build. to get that rolling I need to order up some bearings, gaskets, rings, pistons etc and then get the bottom end down for cleaning/pressure testing/boring/honing, i'll also get the crank knife edged and then all the rotating parts balanced together. then once thats done it will be built up and then have my 16ve head with a mild p'n'p/port match put on it with the n1 cam copies nistro got me. along with that i also have a 3 piece set of unorthodox underdrive pulleys and a fidanza flywheel with a replaced friction ring. once built it will then be tuned using my nemu/tunercode setup inside a b13 sr20 ecu, and hopefully it should end up a potent little package.

as well as the above mentioned parts I also have a gspec afpr, a walbro 244lph fuel pump, a catch can, an oilcooler setup I got from sam, an innovate wideband setup, a momo steering wheel and an alutec strutbrace to replace the megan racing one, not because it will work any better, just purely cause it's prettier lol, a vz-r dash with the pictured kph to mph converter, and lastly a rocker cover centre/sparkplug cover plate that nistro got me for chrimbo, which was pointless bling in return for the pointless bling alu oil filler cap i got him lol. i'll update more as and when things move along :)
